Correct, but what’s happening is when you go to make your second selection the popular rides are already booked up until after noon.

I wish they eliminated it altogether. The best thing to happen to WDW was in the months post COVID when the only front of the line access they had was VIP tours, child swap and disability access. Most of the capacity at WDW attractions can handle so many more people per hour than other parks but the standby lines always get jacked up with FP, FP+, G+ and Individual Lightning Lanes

Agreed. You got a lot more done when there were no fast passes at all.

I dont think this is how the lightning lane/genie+ works. My understanding is that with Genie+, you can make unlimited lightning lane reservations, but you can only hold 1 reservation at a time. So if you get to Magic Kingdom at rope drop and make a reservation for Space Mountain at 9:30, you can still ride rides between 8am and your 9:30 reservation, and as soon as you scan your band for your lightning lane reservation, you are free to make another.

You are probably right about Genie+ being the reservation for the long wait rides, while still being able to do lighting lane while you wait for the genie ride. but you can't have two reservations at one time under the lightning lane.

like i said, all they are trying to do is get you away from slowly walking through a line for an hour, and instead, walk around their shops and food for 55 minutes while you wait for your reservation time. They can't get you to spend money while you wait in lines all day.

Eh to some degree certainly. I think mostly they are trying to even things out. The problem is that you still have tons of rides that routinely have sub 10 min wait times while others have 1.5+ hours all day long.

The 3 fast passes per day did nothing but increase the wait times for those without fastpasses to the big rides.

I think they are trying to eliminate so many "fastpasses" to the big rides to spread people out. Now, in spreading them out they are buying more stuff, sure. But personally I'm not buying more if I'm in a line, I'm trying to find something else quick and easy to do.
