The plan is reduced capacity, masks, temp checks, no fireworks, no parades, no meet and greets.

They are going to have to re-hire a lot of people, restock a lot of food inventory, etc. Make new scheduling guidelines and decisions, etc.

Plus the wiping down stuff... that's going to be wild. My guess is by July, they are hoping it won't be necessary.

sounds absolutely miserable

Yeah we have a reservation at Pop Century for the first week of July but haven't received any communication from Disney so far. We are wondering where if any place we'll be able to stay when we are able to reschedule. If they really didn't want to open in July then they shouldn't have.

They are doing everything possible to discourage anyone but locals from going. They had to open the DVC resorts due to the contract terms (timeshare) of those properties.

That’s certainly what it seems like. I think Universal opening on June 1 made Disney open up sooner than they wanted to.

The Landscapers and the Animal caretakers have been working all along. Security has to be on site at every park. There are a lot of homeless living on that undeveloped 300,000 acres. They have ways to get on construction sites and into the parks.

Can you elaborate?

You might as well cancel. The parks aren’t opening until July 11th and even later for Epcot and Hollywood. I don’t think they will allow guests to stay at the resorts before then. They said if you don’t fall and cancel your reservation then it will be refunded to you when the date comes. At least that is how I understood it. I wouldn’t let them hold on to my money.

Update. They finally sent us an email saying we could call to modify our trip to dates when the parks are open. Obviously Pop Century won’t be open (or they don’t know if will be) in August, so we were given the option to be moved to one of the DVC resorts that will be open but of course would have to pay the upcharge. The cheapest option would have been having to pay $850 dollars more and that it with getting a 35% discount on the package. And none of those resorts were on the skyliner route and transportation probably would have been a mess. Plus we were going to lose the free dining package.

So in short, we cancelled because it’s simply not worth it. And that’s not even mentioning that you still have no idea how the reservation system is going to work and if you’ll be able to get into the parks every day of your stay. It’s obvious they don’t want many people going right now, and this is how they’re doing it. We changed our trip to Universal instead for much cheaper and who seems to have their shite together a little better right now.
