Going to the Saints Rams game next month. Been working 80+ hours a week and I haven’t had time to research LA. Is the Coliseum in a bad part? Are there decent hotels close?

The LA Memorial Coliseum is on the USC campus and is still next to/part of what I consider a bad part of town (despite more recent development there). Especially after a game.

I am staying at the Biltmore in downtown LA this weekend and love the character of that place. There are lots of $200 to $300 a night, nice hotels like it downtown at which to stay. They are a short Uber or taxi ride to the game.

Have a blast on your trip.

This. USC is a very short drive from downtown, where there are a ton of options for you.

I never thought the area directly around USC is all that bad, but as a tourist, I don't know why you wouldn't go with downtown.

Stay downtown and take the Expo Line Metro to the game. Super quick and easy. There's no reason to stay next to USC (and nowhere you would really want to anyway)

There is a hotel right across the street from campus that USC owns on Figueroa. Not sure if it's being renovated or not. SC is just a mile or so south of L.A. Live (Staples Center). There are several hotels within a couple blocks of eachother:
Ritz, JW Marriott, etc.

If the incessant commercials are true, you should only be 10 minutes from a hotel by Wyndham.
