I went about a year ago. Absolutely gorgeous. Clean, safe, relatively inexpensive. Great seafood. Great local fare. Amazing history.
Would definitely recommend, I stayed along the coast, can't offer much inland advice - but heard lots of good things about Zagreb.

Been 9 times, all over Croatia. Got specific ?'s? BTW, im in Haughton if you Minden.
What do you like? Food, nightlife, history, outdoors, etc...
Ferries and buses are great. Pick an area and dont try to move around too much. Istria, Dalmatian coast, island hop, continental? Split is our favorite, lots of great day trips.

If you are traveling in the south, seeing some of the islands via ferry is the way to go. We stayed in Hvar and Vis and it was the best part of our trip.

I drove through Croatia on my way to Tuzla coming from Tazar, Hungary towing a 155mm Howitzer. Unfortunately, it wasn't a very touristy trip so I don't have recommendations to add.
I will say the region is absolutely gorgeous. I hope to go back one day as tourist to see how the region rebuilt itself since the late '90s

Wife and I did our way too big birthday trip together in 2022.
Here is our itinerary
Split - 3 days 2 nights (spent day at Krka, really loved it)
Hvar - 4 days 4 nights (rented private boat for about $400 to $500 a day)..just went island hopping and loved it...you saw somewhere you liked they would stop and you would jump off into the water
Korcula - 1 day 1 night
Ston - 1 day on way from Korcula to Dubrovnik (nice little town with old salt mines, forts to climb, but highlight was the famous oysters...)
Dubrovnik - 3 days 4 nights....did a day trip to Montenegro...
It was a great mix of history and relaxation.
Honestly, my favorite vacation of all time minus Peru...
I booked through Kimkim...I am not usually a tour operator person, but since this was for our 50th and we missed out due to covid, we splurged a little, everything was so coordinated.

Spent a week there. Loved it. Drove to Opatija from Venice, a coastal gem nestled along Croatia’s Adriatic shore. Then drove to Plitvice National Park. A bucket list destination and one of (next to Crater Lake) the most spectacular sites in the world. You have to go there. Just be forewarned. Based upon the time of year and time of day, hordes of tourists busing from Zagreb will show up. It's a huge park, but it can get crowded.
We stayed at the Plitvice Miric Inn. It's about 3 miles from the entrance to the park. Very nice inn with breakfast included.

We stayed a week in Istria. We loved Rovinj and Pula. People don't realize that Istria was ruled by Italy until after WWII. The place is very much like northern Italy.
We did arrange a day trip to Lake Bled in Slovenia while we were there. That was incredibly beautiful as well.
