Heading there in a couple of weeks. Any recommendations on absolute must sees or activities?
So far I plan to rent a Jeep to do some exploring on both Yucatán and island, and also driving to Chichen Itza one day to checkout the pyramid. Snorkeling and kite surfing on the island. Lots of tequila.
Any input is welcome! Thanks.

Definitely make a trip to the east side. Enjoy lunch and a drink at Coconuts Bar above the cliffs. Bonus....nude beach on the way.
Shop several blocks off the main strip for best deals. The prices drop as you get further away from the strip. Be prepared to haggle for best price. Walk away from any deal you're not happy with.
Eat at La Choza. Get the garlic shrimp. It's worth the flight alone.
Are you diving?

If renting a Jeep, do not leave ANYTHING in it when you stop and park
Ask me how I know...........

Go to Chichen Itza and be there when it opens. I’ve been there four times, to actually see everything is around two hours.
There’s a bunch of local vendors inside the park with various local souvenirs and crafts. You can spend huge amounts of time looking at their wares. Or not.
Do not eat Lunch at Chichen Itza. After you leave Chichen Itza, take the back road to Vallidolid (it’s on the way back East towards Cancún) for Lunch on the way back and check out the city center & cathedral.
You have to take out at restaurants, pick up your food and eat in the square in front of the Cathedral.
I was last there in March of ‘20, here’s part of my meal from Restorante Eleganzza:
Go to Google Maps & search for “Restorante Eleganzza Vallidolid”
The bill for two with 30% gratuity was $25.20 US for our Lunch.

Absolute coolest thing you can do in Tulum is to go to the coba ruins. Get there when it opens, rent a bike and haul arse to the ruins. If you do it right you can get there before everyone else and have about 15 min at the top of the ruins all by yourself. One of the coolest things I have ever done.

I stayed there a few years back and the food was horrid there. I’m not a buffet type and a large crowd picking at food creeps me out.
Also we were sitting at the kid water park area and a European family was there with their kids. The kid came back from the park and said he needed the bathroom. The mom told him to piss on himself and then he went back in the water park.
