Has anyone ever been and have any thoughts/recs about the place or area? Heading there for honeymoon in 1 month.

Whenever you're at that Rainforest Cafe or whatever it's called, don't wimp out. Dive off the cliff.

ETA: It's Rick's Cafe.

Got married and stayed 10 nights at Couples Swept Away. Would recommend to anyone. Awesome trip. You going to Couples Negril or Swept Away? They're both in Negril, a few miles apart.

Couples Negril not sure of the big difference between the two. Glad to hear they’re great. Any issues getting from airport at Montego Bay to Negril with the shuttle?

Negril is awesome. I’ve been to Couples Swept Away several times. We always get the building next to the swim up bar. Great food. Great beach and service. Couples Negril has a more secluded beach and the nude beach but not as big. I prefer Swept Away. You can visit the other for free while there on Wednesday’s I think. Do it.

We went to Swept Away last summer and had a great time. Booked with a travel agent through American Express. We did Club Mobay which is a fast track through customs where you have a personal customs agent take you through. It was a fairly long ride (1.5 hrs) from the airport to the resort. We had somebody approach us from AirLink Express while we were waiting offering us to fly us to the airstrip in Negril which is across the street from the resort and it would have taken 12 minutes instead. Price wasn't too bad but we opted not to go through with it. Had I planned it ahead of time, we probably would have done it.

There are a bunch of Couples resorts around the island, and they have a lounge in the Montego Bay airport where they'll serve you Red Stripe while you wait for your shuttle. The ride to Negril is about an 1.5 hours or so. Our driver stopped about half way at a little cafe and we got some more beer and jerk chicken. There's a bunch of free shite to do there as well. There's a daily catamaran cruise, snorkling, and scuba that is complementary. There's usually nightly entertainment as well like big buffet spreads they put on the beach with a bonfire. You can also get a private candlelight beach dinner with your own waitress, totally free and worth it.

We went to Couples Negril for our honeymoon in 2004. Here are some pics, although I suspect it has changed quite a bit. We were there for 10 days and loved every minute we were in Negril.

We flew into Montego Bay and took the puddle jumper to Negril, that was kick arse. For day trips, we did Mayfield Falls. It was FAR LESS crowded than Dunns River Falls and the day trip included a hike around the blue mountains. Take it easy on the blue mountain coffee, your a-hole will be whistling dixie if you drink it too fast.

Damn, that video brought back a ton of good memories. I need to go back for my anniversary. I pretty much lived at that swim-up bar or under the shade of one of the little grass beach umbrellas or palm trees. The food was excellent too. Way better than what I expected from an all inclusive. You get your money's worth for sure.

We went on a jungle zip lining excursion that was awesome too.

My wife and I also did Couples Swept away in 2014. The shuttle is a little over an hour ride, if i remember, and its through some interesting parts of towns so you get to see the real deal of Jamaica, but it wasn't unsafe and went by quick. My wife has to use the bathroom on the way back to the airport so the bus driver kindly stopped for her so she could get out at a local joint and use the bathroom. Good people.

One warning...DO NOT TIP BUY THE CRAP ON THE BEACH AND STAY AWAY FROM THEM WHEN THEY ARE AROUND. You will get hounded to no end to buy stuff.

The best parts about Couples compared to other all inclusives is that they outlaw tipping and the food is incredible. I saw a guy get fired for accepting a tip. We keep in touch with a few bartenders who remember us each time we go. Great people. The people who walk the beach selling stuff are supposed to stay along the water and security does a food job moving them along. We had a lady put bracelets on us and said to pay her when we could since we had no reason to carry cash. I saw her 3 days later and gave her a few bucks.

The catamaran was my favorite part of the excursions. Snorkeling is ok but Jamaica reefs are shite. The bus from airport is fast and winding but usually stops half way to let you pee and buy a beer at this store. The jerk chicken is good there too. Negril is a different Jamaica than what cruise visitors ever see and they thrive on tourism so they want you to keep coming back.
