Concord, NC - advice?

Will be in Concord next week for a few days (Thurs - Sat) while my better half is at a conference. We will be staying at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte Concord Golf Resort & Spa. I am looking for things to do in the area during the day, as well as suggestions for food that isn't your typical chain restaurant.
The hotel is just across the street from the Hendrick NASCAR shops, so I may go check those out, and may also drive down to the NASCAR HoF. But not sure what else is up there to do (besides the race track itself).

I used to live in Charlotte and the only things in Concord back then were the NASCAR track, strip malls, and the big outlet mall. Can't imagine it's changed much other than getting bigger since they finished 485 around the city.
If you golf, I'd bring your clubs and get some golf in. Charlotte actually has a good network of affordable public courses, or at least used to.

It’s a nice area. Clean, prosperous... not a ton to do, but enough. NASCAR stuff, Lake Norman, shopping... Will you have a car? If so, drive up to Keaton’s BBQ in Cleveland, NC. It’s a unique experience. Overall, Concord is a nice place to just relax and have some downtime. Great airport too (USA) if that’s where you’re flying in to.

Krazy Fish is not a typical chain restaurant but it is about 25 minute drive from your hotel. It is on Central Ave and there are many local places on that street.

Thanks for the info everyone.
Yes, we will have a car - Concord is only about 3.5 hours from the house, so we will drive up.
Krazy Fish and Keaton's both look like interesting places to try out.

The NASCAR HOF is very interesting as are the team shops. The shops have tours that are a good time. You may get to meet a driver but wouldn’t count on it. You can also do track tours at CMS. It’s been several years since we’ve been but it was a nice place to visit.
