I was asked to attend a 3 day work conference at the Ritz Carlton in the Cayman Islands. I'll only need to attend a meeting for 3 hours one day, and one dinner. I'll be bringing the wife and we are considering extending it an additonal 2 days.

Anyone have any opinions or recommendations on the area?

Go on one of the swimming with the stingray tours, not so much for the stingrays but for the awesome reef snorkeling.

Peppers Bar and Grill for some good food as cheap as you are gonna find it on the island.

Biggest suggestion: take way more money than you think you will need. That place is expensive as hell.

7 Mile Beach is gorgeous. Calm, crystal blue water and you can swim out to the coral reef for some good snorkeling. Overall, I left unimpressed with GC, but if company is picking up part of the tab there are way worse places to go. Great snorkeling if that’s your thing. Stingray City is kind of cool, but my bleeding heart liberal side felt it kind of exploitative of wild animals.

Double how much money you think you’ll need.

Also double the SPF rating and amount you apply. Just saying...

Awesome place. Stingray trip was worth it and the water there was as clear as a swimming pool. We stayed at the Kimpton.

Lucky you

We go every few years and stay at the Westin on 7 mile beach using points. The Ritz is on the same stretch of beach, maybe about a half mile south of the Westin, and it is way nicer.

I would add as many days as you physically can on the back-end of that conference. Grand Cayman is amazing.

if you dive, do as many as you can.

The Aquarium
Spanish Anchor
Texas Tunnel

some of the favorites of mine.

Exactly. A vendor is footing the bill including lunch and dinner options. I just have to pay for the flight for my wife and two extra nights which is $700/night. Perfect excuse for the first trip without the kids.

Heading there tomorrow. Ended up extending the trip for two extra days. Have dinner tomorrow night at the Wharf. Have a boat chartered for 6 hours on Monday. Taking a catamaran with 3 other couples out to the stingrays. Rest of the trip will include golf at the Ritz course and relaxing on the beach

Ragazzi in Governor’s Square, off Seven Mile Beach has excellent pizza and Italian food

Macabuca in West Bay has great Cracked Conch

Lloyd’s, also off Seven Mile Beach, has great BBQ ribs and brisket

China Village, near the airport is a good old fashioned sit down Chinese restaurant

The diving on Grand Cayman is okay, at best.

The diving on Little Cayman is excellent. Trip over is more than a day trip.
