Can't check in online for flight

I booked a flight from Houston to Cancun connecting in Mexico City. The ticket issuer is Delta and the operating airline is aeromexico. I tied to check in online and it would not allow me to so I called and a csr from AM said that I had to check in at the airport. Anyone run into this situation before?

Yeah that happens with international flights. I wasn't able to check in to my flight to Taiwan online a couple months ago either.

Happens to me often with United and carriers in Asia. No big deal.
ETA. If you have a relatively tight layover, just know where you need to get to to check in and go straight there.

Same thing happened to us recently for South Africa. Nothing to worry about (though I was nervous since this was the first time it happened to me)
