Where are some good spots to rent and go on a canoe trip around Baton Rouge. Let's say within a 2 hour drive radius.

It's not a great trip if you really want to go a long distance on the river, but Canoe and Trail has a rental operation set up behind the Chimes in Covington.

You have to do an out and back trip and the sandbars are not that great if you were wanting to get out and chill and stuff.

The best place is a little further drive to where the Black Creek Canoe place operates near Wiggins. They have several trip options including 2 or 3 overnight ones. I've always enjoyed my trips there, especially the canoe camping.

Alright, I saw Black Creek on my google search and they looked right up my alley. Thanks for the info.

The Wolf river in MS is a nice float, with some interesting narrow spots here and there. LINK
The Bogue Chitto is fun, but not when the water is up.

Okatoma in Mississippi right by Hattiesburg is a fun one
They have some small rapids, some good swimming holes and some good places to stop on the water banks if you bring a lunch

Second this. I've done this many times with my girls and friends and neighbors. It's a great all-inclusive trip, either for a day (from Cable Bridge Road) or overnight (from Cemetery Landing). You bring all your own personal camping or day trip gear (ice chest, tents, sleeping bag); they supply the canoe, paddles, life preservers and shuttle drop-off. You come back to their place and your parked car.

Plenty of sandy beaches to camp on. Bonus on overnight trip is several mini-rapids early in the trip. Water speed and depth can vary with rainfall; when it has been dry you may drag bottom in a few spots.

End of the trip gets a little more bayou-like and slow, more paddling.

A few pics over the years:
