Bringing family to the area. Staying on Barron River Lake. Plan to visit Ark, Corvette museum, Mammoth Cave NP, Minor league game, and a drag race. Any other ideas for a family trip? Headed to Gatlinburg after 5 days for a trip to Dollywood and to visit family. Any thing in between Bowling Green and Gatlinburg to visit? Food recommendations?
Thanks
Thanks

Just left KY, stayed outside of Bardstown, did Mammoth Cave NP, Abraham Lincoln Birthplace, Churchill Downs, Louisville Slugger, and a bourbon tour at Beam.
Solid trip, Mammoth exceeded expectations. Bardstown and the distilleries really shut down after 5-6 and there's a lot that are closed Mon-Tuesday.
Would look at Big South Fork or Obed for going from Bowling Green to the Smokies. I think the national and scenic rivers are worth spending a day at.

Just FYI, the Ark and Bowling Green are a couple of hours apart

Kentucky might be the most underrated state in the country. Sshhh.

Brushy Mountain Prison. It no longer houses people, and they give tours. Plus, there's a distillery there. Then you can stop in Oak Ridge where they have a science museum for the kids.

There are a couple of nice restaurants in Glasgow if you’re staying close

The Ark is 200 miles away from Bowling Green. It’s located between Cincinnati and Lexington.

Take a guided cave tour at Mammoth but make sure you book it ahead of time, you can do that on the national park website.
We did the historic as well as the domes and dripstones tours. I enjoyed the historic tour more than the dome and dripstones if I could only pick one. They have a lot of stairs on both tours, but my 5 year old did both without a problem or complaining, even after hitting a couple miles of trails beforehand. The Frozen Niagara was cool (it's a stalactite formation that looks like a frozen waterfall), but the seeing the size of the cave on the historic tour was a lot more impressive. My wife hates spiders and freaked out by the cave crickets and spiders on the domes and dripstones tour as well, if that's something that could factor in with your family.
Bring a light jacket, its about 55 inside the cave on the historic due to its natural opening, but probably closer to 70 on the domes and dripstones tour.

Lost River Cave has a boat tour of the cave. Very cool I hear. Also check out Chaneys Dairy Barn if you all are looking for a place for ice cream while in Bowling Green.
Another suggestion I thought of-check out Beech Bend Park. It's a family oriented amusement park just north of town. They have a wave pool, with a lazy river and water slides. I believe a campground as well.
