We are going to Rome this summer in late June. I've been eyeing prices for a few months, and they have been steadily increasing. I've read that the best time to purchase a flight to Europe is between 16-7 weeks before the flight. We are in dallas, but plan on leaving from a different city. Most likely New York or Toronto. Any advice?

Start looking now and don't give up. Those $500 flights went up to the second week of June so not quite when you're looking. I haven't seen anything cheap for mid June or July yet, will keep an eye out

I usually book through Expedia. I am convinced that there is no definite general answer on how far in advance you should book. Just pick out the type of flight you want and check the prices on a regular basis. As soon as you see a flight you like at a good price, book it, be happy and don't look back. You have plenty time.

Do any of the booking sites have a better fare guarantee? Say you book and see a better fare later...

Im using delta miles for a trip to Paris. Is my best bet to simply monitor the delta website or is there a better option?

Thats about the only way I know to track using miles for a flight. I know they just switched to reward flights depending on demand so off peak season will likely be cheaper miles wise

I'm looking to do similar, looking at flying in to one side of the country and flying out of the other. No set plans yet, just trying to figure out how to best set up my alerts, should I just set up a bunch of one way alerts and see how it works out? Are there any airports/airlines that tend to be cheaper?

If it matters: leaving out of MSY. I have plenty of Chase UR & AMEX MR to book, & was thinking of doing business class if reasonable for the trans-Atlantic portion.

Don't get bogged down just looking at flights into Rome. Check flights into Milan, Venice, etc. and take the train to Rome. Did this in 2015 into Milan and saved $600 per ticket.

If your different city is New Orleans

My parents did this to get to Rome.
May to October every Wed & Saturday non stop to Frankfurt is $349, it was another $100 from Frankfurt to Rome.

That would work. We're actually going to Tuscany, so we're going to have to take a train anyway. I just figured that Rome would be the cheapest destination.
