I go to the Bay Area for work a couple times each year but never took the time to sightsee, so I added a couple days to check stuff out.

Inb4 poop and syringes on sidewalks

Stayed in Pacifica on the coast. First day: Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods, and tourist traps like the wharf / Pier 39. Saw the painted ladies and Lombard street. Had some great food & drink.

Some trees were over 1000 years old and between 200-250’ tall. But the valley they’re in is just beautiful, would highly recommend if you’re nearby.

2nd day: PCH down to Monterey. If you’re ever near there, highly recommend the 17 Mile Drive through Pebble Beach. The drive down there, Pebble Beach, is all just stunning. Pics don’t come close.

Golfers may recognize this tree:

It’s easy to do much of it in 2 days. Based on my experience, and crazy as it sounds, Bay Area drivers are some of the best around. Polite for the most part, no stupid shite, know how to handle heavy traffic. That surprised me.

I only saw one homeless person, but avoided areas w/homeless encampments (there’s up to date homeless maps of San Fran lol)

Cool pics. Drove PCH from LA to SF and loved every minute. Would like to do the reverse over the course of a few days.

And dinner at Pebble Beach restaurant was a neat experience

A CSB, I was once coincidentally in Carmel for the weekend of the Pebble Beach PGA tournament. Ate at Casanova and sat with Brandt Snedeker's caddie at the time (Scott Vail), and met Jordan Spieth when he came over to our table.

Great pics, I love SF/Monterey. We did the same drive along the coast and finished with lunch at Pebble Beach. Beautiful part of the world.

I feel sorry for the simpletons here who shite on California because Democrats are in charge. Enjoy your vacation to Orange Beach with the rest of the PFG wearing crowd.

For redwoods visit the Santa Cruz Mountains rather than driving up to Muir Woods. LINK /

Be sure to buy some local produce at any roadside market around Moss Landing on CA Rt 1 between Santa Cruz and Monterrey artichokes and fruit are major crops.

California is the most beautiful state in the country as it has every imaginable type of geography and landscape. It's truly an amazing area of the entire world.

Very much agree. Coast and coastal range between SF and Carmel are very much worth exploring. It lacks the boutique urban centers, many fancy vineyards and rated restaurants to north of SF, but it's just more fun with a unique cold-ocean vibe. Have to qualify that...fun when not on fire or experiencing gale winds & mud slides.

Been to various spots there and it's always a pleasant trip. The mission in Carmel is awesome. Santa Cruz boardwalk. Napa Valley. Muir Woods.

Cannery Row / the aquarium is great. Did some kayaking in the kelp forests in the bay last time around and got close (50ft, closest you can get in kayak) to a family of otters. There's a jetty nearby too where a lot of wildlife hangs out. One thing that's surprising is just how cool the climate is in that spot. We went midsummer and I think it broke 65 once? Hung around mid-to-high 50s almost the whole time.

Never got far south enough for Hearst Castle but I hear that's great too.
