We are headed over there this weekend on a whim and wanted to get advice on some bars and/or speakeasies in downtown San Antonio.
I realize the river walk is there so there may be a bunch of touristy stuff, but open to any and all suggestions.

Best dive bar is On the Rocks Pub. It's actually underneath the McDonalds near the Alamo.

The Menger Bar.
Teddy Roosevelt’s old bar in the historic Menger Hotel. Right across the street from the Riverwalk.

Esquire Tavern
We enjoy getting a drink here.
Not downtown, but if you haven’t done a margarita crawl at The Pearl district and ended at the Hotel Emma bar, you’re missing out on a great time. It’s in the old fermentation room of the brewery.

If you are open to a short uber ride go to the Sternworth Bar inside Hotel Emma in the Pearl.

2nd the Esquire Tavern. Great atmosphere and drinks, not too pricey. Another patron who ate there said the food was good. Easy to access location by St Mary's street and on the river.
