Friend rented a house on Big Exuma/Grand Exuma/Exuma (whatever the main island is called) and invited me along. Price is right and I have the time off from work to burn so I am headed out. I don't know anything at all about the island.

Anyone been? Got any pointers?

We will be on the beach halfway between the airport and Georgetown. Quick Google hasn't told me much beyond it appears they take USD and groceries are going to be expensive.

Any comments/suggestions appreciated.

Just got back last week, it was incredible.

Bring all the meat you can. The meat /chicken selection by Friday was horrible

Supply boat comes Tuesday, so better options Wednesday versus Sunday.

Had decent wine selection at CNK liquor. Beer was $45-$55 a case.

Grocery’s are expensive , but, that’s expected .

People were super friendly.

Rent a boat from Minns and hit chat n chill one day.

Don't feel like you have to pack in activities non-stop every day. Explore by boat and by car. Sure, it's nice to have a plan a few times. But it is also nice to just get out and enjoy the out islands with an open mind and no agenda.

There are several pop-up stands for Conch Salad around the island (usually in people's front yards) -- absolutely stop at least once and have some conch salad, kalik, and get to know the locals.

If you truly love the outdoors, the out islands will become your favorite place to visit.
