Is the knifes edge as band as it looks. Sometimes the fisheye lens makes it looks worse but it looks pretty tough to me.

I’ve only climbed Elbert. Anyone did all the 14er’s?

I read a book a while back about a guy that climbed all the 14ers (a few on private property I think). Halfway to Heaven was the name of it. Good read.

today Andrew Hamilton, a 40-year-old Denver native, broke the world record for fastest consecutive ascent of all of Colorado’s 14ers in an insane 9 days, 21 hours and 51 minutes

This was a few years ago so not sure if it’s still the record. Very impressive. He had a crew driving him close and he used a bike for descents down to a van. I think you have to make so many vertical feet to claim an ascent.

Capitol is way, way harder than Elbert. I wouldn’t try Capitol unless you feel very confident. Lots of 13 and 14ers that I’d try before jumping from Elbert to Capitol, unless you have a lot of other climbing experience. For reference, Capitol is the toughest 14er listed on 14ers.com

No planning on climbing it anytime soon. Just wanted some first hand accounts.

It’s class 4, so let’s not get crazy with the “climbing” lingo. Exposure and route finding make it difficult...if you’re on something hard to climb, you’ve definitely already fricked up your route finding. Hard to frick up a knife edge. Step on solid footholds, don’t step on anything not solid.

You should be doing these in approach shoes and not boots.

Not even, i was always drawn to much steeper endeavors.

I read the route map. I like the extreme commitment warning. Ridge looks like it would be sketchy. Ropes would a PITA for a 17 mile trip.

I’d love to hike some ridges in the Sierras. Connecting a few of those would be fun.

I’m not up for holding on with my fingertips anymore. Most of the peaks I’ve bagged were while hiking in the area and made the summit.

I do want to bag Granite in Montana but that’s just a rappel down for the most part. That’s about as steep as I’ll get anymore.

Looks like mostly operator error.

3000 a year climb it. 9 deaths total. Not that bad. Long’s Peak is more deadly. But gets way more traffic.
