Wife has to go to a conference there in July, and I'm tagging along. Gonna be solo during the day for a couple of days while she's in meetings. Only thing I have planned so far is hitting a Pirates game the day we arrive. We're staying at the Omni downtown.

There is a behind the scenes tour in the morning, you need to sign up early. It is worth the time.

I have a buddy that lives there and 4 of us fley up for a weekend and had a blast. Lots of good food, both downtown and out from downtown.

Meat and Potatoes is great. I also have enjoyed Sienna Mercato as well.

Have always heard that, so looking forward to it. Last time I was in Pittsburgh they were playing at Three Rivers Stadium and I saw Andre Dawson in an Expos uniform hit a home run if that tells you how long ago it was.

And didn't realize Fat Heads had a Pittsburgh location. I've been to the one in Canton, OH. Love their IPA so I'll definitely try to head there for lunch one day.

And Meat & Potatoes looks like a good spot for dinner the night we get in town. I think most nights there are dinners at the conference, but not 100% sure.

We visited carnegie mellon for a few minutes, The Natrual History museum is supposed to be very good, but we didn't have time in the schedule to visit, but we did walk through the Cathedral of Learning, and it architecture is your thing it was incredible. Reminded me of something from Harry Potter. I wouldn't make a trip from downtown just to walk in the Catherdral, but if you combine it with other stops, I would add it to the day.

Cool. I won't have a car, but have been told it's easy to get around there without one with light rail and Uber/Lyft. I'll need something to fill 2 1/2 days besides breweries and restaurants, and the Carnegie Mellon area looks like a good area to just stroll around and take in.

Anyone know anything about the Andy Warhol Museum?

very touristy, but you could take a ride up the duquesne incline for excellent views of the city and rivers.

Head out to Ohiopyle and see Fallingwater - a famous Frank Lloyd Wright house that's pretty cool. And/or do a white water rafting trip on the Youghiogheny. Excellent white water river.

"Church of Brew Works" is a cool place, it's an old church converted to a brewery.

2nd Pirates game...great venue.

Eat Perogies.

Try Primante Bros. sandwich with fries on it

Went to Pittsburgh for a baseball weekend last year. Game was at 7; Warhol museum was just blocks away and had reduced admission after 5 PM, so I hit that up before the game. It was pretty cool; maybe an hour or so to burn. I enjoyed learning about Warhol's background as well as seeing his art and how it evolved over time.

Other things-- definitely go up to Mt. Washington for an overlook view of the downtown; and definitely go down to Point State Park at the confluence of the Three Rivers.

When you go to Pitt and see the Cathedral of Learning, you can take the elevator and go up to a high-level public access floor for some great views. And right by there is the remnant of old Forbes Field, where the Pirates played before Three Rivers:

I enjoyed going to "The Hill" neighborhood and seeing the house used in the exterior of the movie "Fences", as well as some great views from a reservoir at the top of a mountain/big hill in Robert E. Williams Memorial Park (this IS a kind of shady neighborhood, though).

On my last day there, actually rented clubs and played a walking round of golf at Bob O'Connor Golf Course in Schenley Park in-town. Ridiculously cheap (like 20 bucks total); but I was NOT used to those hills and they nearly killed me.

Have fun!

This is the wall that Mazeroski hit the homer over to beat the Yankees in game 7 of the 1960 World Series. Fans gather there on the anniversary of the game every year to replay the broadcast. Did you see home plate ? It is still there in the bathroom of a building across the street (its original spot).

Yep. But that's not the section of wall where the home run cleared - that was relocated to the Allegheny Club at Three Rivers. Not sure where it is now.

The Forbes Field wall was on my list of things to see. Looks like I'll be spending the good portion of a day in that area. Probably check out the Natural history museum.

Thanks, didn't know it had been moved. It has been a few years since I was there last. But I do remember that a hot dog at The "O" was pretty damn good.
