The quality of the video is not very good, but how often do 30 well fed elk take over a US highway through the Smoky Mountains? And even some walk on the correct side of the road for pedestrians.

That is pretty cool.

But how do people not know how to record video with your phone? Turn the damn thing sideways.

Now we're gonna have to bring in wolves, grizzlies, and mountain lions to curb the elk population....or start hunting them.

NC Wildlife has been doing feasibility studies of a limited hunt in the future. The elk are no longer protected by the NPS service once they were deemed a self sustaining herd. Go to Cataloochee and see them during the rut instead of this area of Highway 441 anyone interested better visit experience.
