There’s some housing in Grand Teton, but most people stay in Jackson or at the resort.
I would stay in Jackson. It’s a chance to see the town, it’s small but worth exploring. Go have breakfast at Persephone, and go see the Rodeó. The park is just a twenty minute drive north of Jackson.
Glacier, I would stay in the park.

Thanks Lima. I was able to secure lodging in jackson for our first few nights at some place called alpine motel for like 153/nt. Def a no frills kinda place but it was highly reviewed and I think it'll work

There’s a cafe in Grand Teton called Dornans, I would stop there for lunch while you’re in the area.
The trail up into Death Canyon is my favorite in the park. Lots of vertical, but worth it. Especially as you climb out of the Canyon up towards Fox Pass.
Have you spent much time at higher altitudes? When I moved west it took me about a month to aclimate. According to the text books, two weeks is normal. Your mileage may vary?
I didn’t get headaches, but my endurance dropped at higher altitudes. Especially above 7.5k.
Dehydration was part of it though. I needed to drink more water, but I didn’t feel thirsty.
Eventually I learned to just drink water when climbing turned into a slog.

All Trails is your best resource for mapping the park, and planning your hikes.

Big fan of the All Trails app. Used it quite a bit when we visited all the Washington national parks last summer. That was a really fun trip.

Was actually planning on doing this. Are they pretty tame or do they have some intense class 3/4s?

Sweet thanks. The sites I've researched so far show class II/III. Not bad. Mrs jkyle signed us up for class IV/V last summer near North cascades natl Park for our first time ever and it was f'ng nuts. I got tossed and was pretty certain we were gonna die

What river did you raft?

I think maybe the Sauk river. And it may have been a 3-4 not a 4-5 .

I really hate to hear that about Going to the sun road. I was really looking forward to that.
You more than likely will be able to access it this year in mid-June, FYI.

Livingston is a great town near by. It's a short drive through Paradise Valley which is beautiful. West Yellowstone is a charming little town with things to do but Livingston is a little bigger and close to Bozeman if you wanted to venture there.

What exactly makes you think this?
Especially if COVID is still rampant, I wouldn’t expect Logan Pass to be accessible any sooner than years past. I’ve lived here for the past 6 years and the earliest GTTS has opened to the pass has been the last week of June. It sometimes doesn’t open to the pass until after 4th of July weekend. The tribal lands will possibly be closed again this year so the east side will be shut down again. Fingers crossed this doesn’t happen, but we haven’t been able to recreate in that area since 2019 it seems.

I Called the park and asked. They said the snow pack is lighter than it has been in years and if this keeps up they will open accordingly. I will be there in May to ride the going to the sun road because they told me it might be open the middle of June. Bike riders are allowed to access the road weeks ahead of the cars. It all depends on the melt.

While this is true, there is still plenty of winter left for snowpack to reach normal levels. I bike the road every spring so I highly recommend it! It’s a great ride. A couple years ago some friends got caught on one side of an avalanche just beyond Weeping Wall, not sure if you heard about it. You have a good chance to see spring bears too which will be cool.
Enjoy your trip!

I heard about that, that is not on my bucket list!
I hear Bighorn are everywhere that time of the year as well.
