What must I do in Seattle during my brief stay? Any info on what area to stay in?

Rain hasn't been much of an issue this year. It's been the cold snaps.

Common myth, New Orleans is like number 2 on the list of the 10 wettest cities in the U.S., its annual rainfall is twice that of Seattle, which does not even make the top 10.

Common myth,

That's total inches of rain. But Seattle gets its rain in a slow. steady drizzle whereas Nola gets rain in buckets. So you are more likely to get wet in Seattle than Nola, unless you also count sweating....then Nola may win.

Rain Jacket is on my pack list. What are some city spots that are must do’s. I frequent Portland about 3 times a year and have made day trips to Seattle to the Pike Market and the Space Needle.
This time I’m flying into Seattle and spending 3 days there before driving down to Portland. I really want to catch some staples for locals in the city while there. Any info is much appreciated.
I like beer btw, so I’ve scoped the breweries.
Looking for the best central spot to shack up as well.

Are you interested in getting out of Seattle at all or are you wanting to keep it in the city?

Piggy backing this thread. Have reservations at lodge in Olympic National Park in July. Thinking about a couple days in the Cascades and want to check out one of the islands too. Planning on 2-3 nights in Seattle as well

I enjoyed the salmon lock and the park it’s in. I think there are salmon almost year round but certainly look up the dates you are going.

By boat is supposed to be the best way to see the city.

It's coming. The on again off again is messing with my tributary fishing.

4th almost always brings rain.

I always head east over the mountains for guaranteed sunshine.

Never been to the lock but salmon are only here when they are migrating home.

There are spring, summer, and fall runs. No idea on the strength of their runs but I do know for several years the fishermen in the sound have been getting screwed and fishing has barely been open.

Winter blackmouth season has been their go to for good catching.

It better hurry up. It's March and all these blue skies are screwing with my mind.

Not here but there are so many micro climates around the Sound that it just depends where you're at. But I would definitely say that late July to late August is the best time to visit the parks.

My family and I went last year. The visit to Victoria was fun but take a plane unless you really want to spend half a day on the boat and going through customs.

A day trip to Rainier (Paradise) was also worthwhile.

True. It might just be my memory, . I don't have a lot of fond memories of the 4th though on the west side. I of course never went north of Tacoma.

I recently learned about the San Juan Islands weather. Might be getting a boat so I've researched it. I guess the Olympics help keep the islands much more dry. Already planning a tour to Sucia/Clark/James island in mid July.

I give that rec to anyone I know when visiting the NW.
