Was glad to be back on my Enforcer 110s today for another powder day, the time at Sun Peaks. I've become spoiled, 8 inches of champagne quality powder. This is a much more laid back mountain, not a ton of gnarly stuff like Revy or crowds like Whistler. I like the chill vibe, skiing is also great with tons of terrian. Sun Peaks is Canada's second biggest ski resort.
I hit the bowl off the Crystal chair early, lots of powder to be found but it got skied out as the day progressed. The area to the left of the Burfield chair had some of the better powder stashes...sunny side, toliet bowl, father toms were all fun.
Finished the day with a hike up to the Gils area, a short bowl run into glades. More untouched powder here, fun glades that got tight in spots but were nicely spaced for the most part.

I am so jealous of your revy and sun peaks trip compared to when I went early January, looks 100x better conditions plus you can actually see at Sun Peaks! So that's what it looks like off the crystal lift
. How'd you like that slow arse chair on the far left side of the mountain?

I've gotten very lucky with the snow this year, both places have gotten dumped on the past few weeks.
I still haven't rode the entire lift yet, got on at the mid-station each time but even that took a while.

Have you been over off the Morrissey lift yet? That area had the best snow when I was there, runs like Tumble Dry, Lint Trap, etc. Go off the lift towards the back then cut right, think there's a double black there but it's not like the double blacks at Revy

Morrissey is shutdown until Thursday, some electrical issue. I can see the untouched powder sitting there, I will probably spend most of day over there if it opens.

Sun Valley got 16" in the last 24 hrs, I'm in for a real treat today

Copper got like 6" in this run of storms.
Still, looks like a great day to hit the slopes.

Enjoy! Looking out my window in Boise at 3 inches. Several schools and even highways closed.
Sun Valley doesn't have as much apres-ski type places as some of the resorts in CO, but KB's Burrito is always solid after a day in the mountains. Wiseguy Pizza is next door. The patio at the Limelight is pretty cool, and there is a neat little taproom around the corner called TNT. Village Station at the resort has solid beers and food too.
I have been debating on whether to make the drive to Sun Valley (or Tamarack/Brundage) this season, but there is still a lot at Bogus Basin and backcountry stuff up ID 21 that I haven't explored yet.

Which is crazy because the sun was out when I left Boise around 4pm yesterday.

After my day today, I'd highly recommend going soon. Conditions were great today, all the locals I skied with were saying this will help the whole month of March.

Colorado portion starts next Friday evening somewhere around grand junction. Skiing Aspen 3/11-3/12, Steamboat 3/13-3/14, Vail 3/15, Copper 3/16, and A Basin or Breck 3/17. You or anyone else on here is welcome to join any of those locations!
Also saw the NCAA tournament is that Friday in Denver, may do a half day to be able to make it for a few games

The forecast in the extended doesnt suck but it has been pretty good all winter...
and we can only squeeze out 8" max.
Wind direction has been a killer at Copper. I want a cold front diving out of the north damn it!

It'll be fun
Gotta finagle a thing or two to make sure I got the day free, but seems really doable at this point.

Heading home tonight, Canada delivered on great skiing as usual. Whistler is kind of the Vegas of skiing....The place is big, busy and loud. Great apres scene there, a true party ski town. Drove up in the dark through some sleet and snow, woke up to great visibility on Saturday and decided to focus on Blackcomb. Got there early and made my way up the Glacier express to the top of Blackcomb...
The snow was great up there, decided to do the hike and ski the glacier which was well worth it despite the wind and less than ideal visibility. After that I hit some of the glades off of Arthur's Choice, this has to be a fun place on a powder day...
Finished the day with ride on the Peak to Peak Gondola and skiing down from the top of Whistler...
Today, was not a great visibility day, especially on the Whistler side. Did get some good runs in off the Seventh Heaven Express, That area seemed to have decent visibilty with good snow, things were a bit icy and crowded if you went lower on the mountain. Still have a lot I didn't get to ski but hard to tackle such a massive place in two days.
The drive back to Vancouver was spectacular, the Sea to Sky Highway might be on the most scenic stretches of road I've ever been on.
