Skied yesterday at Jackson Hole after many hours of dumping. It was a great day.

Thanks for the sock recs guys!

Got home last night in WA, we're under a winter storm warning here for up to 8" . And this is in the lowlands, not even the mountains. May go to crystal on Saturday given the additional 40" of snow over the next 5 days predicted

Hey all, moved to the mountains earlier this year. Haven’t skied since late 90’s. About 5 times or so. Needless to say, I’m excited to have that opportunity again, and the ability to go often during the season. Would love some advice on an all mountain ski, intermediate. I assumed I’d rent and probably still will but also curious about buying some since I plan to go a good bit. Thoughts? Any advice? Boot fitter recommendations around Denver? Appreciate it.

Do a demo day with a few popular skis and choose between those. Most places will apply the daily charge towards the purchase. Seasonal rental aren’t cheap and usually subpar, especially the boots.

If you havent skied in awhile, research frontside skis. Rossignol Experience are very highly rated. They make an 86 waist which might be a good middle ground.

For boots, Boot Mechanic does custom insoles along with the fitting. I had a really good experience with Confluence for a standard fitting with non-custom insoles. I’d go cheaper on skis to afford the boot that fits best. With that said, a 100 flex boot won’t be that pricey.

I’ve done it all wrong so far as just now getting settled. It looks like I can grab Epic for a couple more days.

Epic will give you access to Keystone and Breck. Despite being great mountains, you will get tired of the touristy crowds and want Ikon. Ikon base pass gives you Winter Park and Copper. WP is big and crowded on the weekends, but you don’t have to deal with the tunnel and Mary Jane parking lot is free and easy.

Snoqualmie got 18" and Crystal 24" over the past two days so my first ski day will be Saturday. Going to make my way to crystal and pray that it's not obnoxiously crowded

Just starting this beautiful pattern.

Enjoy it, because Im 80% convinced it turns dry and warmer around the 15th.

Going to drop some winter storms across the NE, just in time for Christmas travel.

We were trying to decide between Copper Mountain or Steamboat Springs and Steamboat was our choice.
We learned to ski at Copper Mountain about 6-7 years ago and we are strong beginners at this point. We are looking for greens and very easy blues.
For some weird reason it is cheaper to fly into Hayden connecting through Denver than it is to just fly to Denver.

Any input on Steamboat Springs beginner terrain?

Sunshine lift is pretty good, very mellow blue runs and some easier tree skiing. A decent chunk of the mountain is very approachable, there is some tougher stuff but you can avoid it. You can even work up your confidence and ski some easier blacks.

It should be plenty good next weekend too.

Plus, Washington will be in a better position for when the pattern turns "warm".

At some point, probably close to New Years, it turns back good for me in CO.

Steamboat is a great mountain but isn’t really tough. Copper is also great but not exactly where I would want to spend a vacation week.

First ski day in at Crystal yesterday and man was that fun. Legs are super sore today but glad I pushed it given they got 2' over the past few days. Was able to find lots of powder stashes . Sure there's still some exposed rocks and trees but for the most part coverage is excellent for first weekend of December. Adding some pics below

Mt Rainier pic. Super clear day, could see Mt. Adams, Mt. Baker, etc.

Powder view overtaking my boots

They opened northway yesterday for the first time this seasons so fresh tracks everywhere!

One of my favorite spots Bulls Run. Steep and deep

I'm pumped for the next skiday wherever that may be, legs are taking a break for now
