Southwest flights to SLC look to be about the same if not more.

On another note, how far away would you stay from the big resorts (Vail, Breck) and it not be a total mess of a drive? So my thinking is get a late flight on Sunday then early flight on Saturday. But I don’t want to be driving snowy mountain roads in the dark so I was thinking of staying closer to Denver but don’t want to stay too far. I’ll be riding M-F. Maybe stay in Denver Sunday and Friday nights?

These were closed last March when I was at Beaver Creek. I was bummed because it was a powder day. The double black runs of Grouse Mountain were fun in the powder though since the bumps were gone.

I've stayed in Grand Junction the night before my first day at Vail and the night of my last day. It's not a bad drive even if its snowy.

I didn’t downvote, but GJ is pretty far from the resorts. Denver/Evergreen/Georgetown/Idaho Springs are your best bet, 70 is about as safe of a mountain road that you can get.

Depends, how late are you getting in? I would always drive down Friday night after traffic let up and drive back late Sunday or early Monday. I was a weekend warrior though.

Only town worth driving to east of the tunnel in order to get a head start would be Georgetown so you can skip the Idaho springs traffic. Other than that, get a hotel off highway 6 in Lakewood the night before.

I actually got to ski Grouse the first day they opened it last year. There wasn't much new powder on the mountain and then they just turned this huge stash loose on us. It was awesome

Never been to Rev but everyone on the ski forums on Reddit seems to think it’s the greatest ski resort in NA.

Let me know if you're interested in revelatoke or whistler . While living in WA I decided I'm making this my intense ski season for exploring the PNW. I also signed up for that Southwest promotion a while back where I get a free companion pass for all flights January- mid February. Looking into flying to Denver, Hayden, Montrose, Boise, Albuquerque for Taos, SLC, etc. Going to be a great season

Revelstoke might be on the top of my bucket list. My dream ski trip is to hit some of resorts on the powder highway(Red, Whitewater, Kicking Horse and Revelstoke).

I'm interested in Austria but I do not have any international ski experience. I want to take the wife for a nice trip.

Our only hitch is for 2022 we are going to need to go in early march and I'm not sure how Austria is during that time. Otherwise I was going to take her to Utah since she's never been.

My ski level is expert, hers is intermediate. I've been just about everywhere there is to go in the US and this just sounds like a great idea to explore something new for both of us.

I was looking at Schaldming (the 4 peaks look nice) vs Mayrhofen.

I went for new year's 2 years ago to St Anton Austria. I hired a private backcountry guide for the day for like $350. Flew into Zurich and took the train to St Anton. That was awesome. Definitely make sure to pay extra for a specifically assigned seat though. We had to ride SRO basically on the way back because they were full for like 2 days. I asked the tenant what to do since they were full and she said "Definitely do not try to board because there probably won't be any seats and you may not be able to get off before it departs" I was like "oh no! You're telling me that if I board, we may have to travel to our intended destination at our intended time?"

Try to work in a day at Northstar. And eat at least once at Himmel Haus.

Echo the Loveland suggestion. Hope for good (non-windy) conditions to get up Lift 9 - most spectacular view I’ve ever seen.

I actually upgrade my epic pass to a season pass. So looks like I’ll be getting 5 solo days at Breck/Vail/Keystone. I’m pretty pumped. My wife thinks it’s a little unusual because I’ve never gone on a trip for pleasure by myself. But I think I’m going thru kind of a mid life crisis. I just turned 43 and am chasing this dream of riding all 50 states. But she supports me.

Solo travelling is the shite. There are moments when you wish you're with someone but overall not having to rely on someone else's schedule/habits outweighs that.

Yep. I am a first chair up, last chair down skiier who takes no breaks to eat or rest or whatever. My only breaks are on the lifts and to go to the bathroom. There is no way anyone I know can keep up with that.

I could do it for a day or 2, but I typically like to ski for 7 days straight or so. Maybe a rest day in there if I have the time.

I’m 39 and have done a solo trip almost every year the past decade. Wife doesn’t ski and kids have school and sports so I normally get in a solo mid season trip. Always have a blast, never have to wait on someone, can stay on the more advanced terrain and typically take these trips to mountains I’ve never been too. Plus there are no friends on powder days anyways to slow you down, haha.
