Bogus Basin, local ski area. I had been doing the more difficult runs (blacks and double blacks) earlier in the day and decided to take a break and went to the easier bombers. Not the type of "break" I was looking for. Happened on Sunday. Went to the hand surgeon today but fortunately, no surgery required.

Any of yall getting any turns in lately ? Heading to loveland to ski Friday and copper mountain on Saturday. Never skied this late so I'm hoping the snow will still be decent.

Yesterday was good...warm. After the 18th, Breck cuts operations to the base of Peak 8...as warm as it’s been I can’t see them getting to May 31st, but I hope they can.

But the upper mountain got a couple of inches last night, I believe. Spring fun for the lucky ones there.

Shout out to all the good info for this ski season on here.. wrapped it up this weekend with a day at loveland yesterday and copper mountain today. I was very impressed with both. Copper was a little on the icy side today early on but was still a great time. Really want to move to Colorado if I could get Mrs jkyle on board.

Loveland is super nice for spring skiing. It’s not even getting above 32 next week!

It really was. I thought the terrain was great. Thick powder and not a ton of icy patches. Copper was so nice and I loved the layout/runs but the terrain was pretty rough for the first half of the day. My very first run of the day from the SuperBee chair I ate shite pretty bad twice on the way down. It was a warm sunny day though and it got better later on in the day. I think I liked copper better than breck. We stayed at the microtel right off I-70 in georgetown and that was really hard to beat for 70/night when trying to get a cheaper ski weekend in.

Made the drive out to Big Sky to get a few more days in. Had 3 inches of snow last night but it was dust on crust in most spots, some good stuff still around though on the upper parts of the mountain....

Tried out the Ikon tracker today...

Glad things softened up for you, Copper is one of my favorites. The blues off SuperBee can get a bit steep, so I can see how they could cause some trouble if it is slick. I love that area when it is in prime condition, can just rip down Oh No into Rosi's Run.

Glad you had a good time out in big sky. Would love to ski there one day. That ikon tracker looks awesome. I tracked a few of my runs on my garmin watch and thought I was the man when I got up to 35mph on one of the quick blue runs off Timberline express

Nice, how did big sky soften up in the afternoon?

Had an absolutely perfect day at Crystal today. Snowed about 5" in last 48 hrs but crystal clear skies and sun today. I was able to find plenty of fresh tracks in northway, off chair 6 front and backside, the Rex lift, and Left/Right trees. No hassling about the masks either!

Snowbird was awesome. Lots of good snow. Lots of aggressive skiiers though... Got cut off several times, a few people got too close for comfort. I saw a few other groups almost get into wrecks as well. I didn’t like that aspect of it.

A Basin is probably my favorite ski resort I’ve been to so far. Chill vibe with amazing terrain and snow.

Not too much sadly, didn't really get any sun and it was cold. I did find some decent areas off powderseaker and a few other places. Hopefully things warm up a bit better tomorrow for my last day of the season.

Snowbird is on my bucket list, was supposed to go last year but covid screwed it up. Maybe 2021-2022 will be the year but Taos and Banff also have my interest as well.

A-Basin is in my top 5, Big Sky remains my favorite.

Any recs on where to stay in Vail for next season? Is it worth it to pay a little more and stay in the village. Found a pretty good deal on a little condo next to Golden Peak lift. TIA

I've never stayed in the village, I'm an AirBNB man when I go to Vail. Plenty of good condos in both East/West Vail, and if you have a car, Avon/Beaver Creek.

The benefit of staying in the village is proximity and not having to pay $30 to park, but you will more than make up for that with the additional costs to stay there.

My big thing when I go to Vail is making sure my condo has a kitchen. I am not a fan of the food scene at Vail... if higher end restaurants are your thing its fine, but more casual dining is harder to find. Not that they don't have it, but its just so expensive for basic food. A burger and fries at a local joint will set you back a pretty penny. Even fast food places like McDonalds/Wendys. I had coupons for free stuff on McDonalds/Wendy's apps and neither one in Vail honors those coupons.

I've found it better to just buy groceries in Eagle, Silverthorne, Frisco or Grand Junction and cook yourself. It's what I do. There are a couple restaurants I go to in Vail that are somewhat reasonable(Red Lion and Pazzo's Pizza, as well as Sundae for Ice Cream) but apart from that I am cooking.

I appreciate the info. We ended up pulling the trigger on a place in Vail Village called All Seasons (through vrbo) for first week of Feb next year. 4 nights @ 300/night so not too bad. It's near Golden Peak side of village (the quiet side I hear) and is a really short walk to the Riva Bahn express lift . Not sure why Mrs jkyle was so hung up on going to Vail. The ski map looks solid though. I second the idea of stocking up on groceries and eating in mostly. We went to vail on Thursday to just look around and it def struck me as a pretty high end kinda snooty situation. Lol.
