Why all the spam calls recently?

My phone gets about 10 spam calls a day. Most from local 225 numbers and some 800 numbers. I'm sick of this shite everyday. Starts at about 7am and sometimes as late as 930pm.
I registered for the National Registry about 4 months ago and it keeps getting worse. Would get a new number, but with my job, that is a huge pain in the arse.

i've gotten at least 4 calls a day every day for last several months.
Got call today from microsoft scam. Guy started insulting my parents. I told him to go suck Mohammed. He said f off and die. Mentioning Mohammed might not have been a good idea since he apparently got my name from the internet. At least the call wasn't automated and I got to vent.

Lol, thats the problem. Every call is fkn automated. Either some bs "debt relief" offer or telling me I won a trip. If I added all the trips I've won, I'd have about 1000 free trips to wherever in the world.

quote:yep. Get same call every day. "not a solicitation" or something like that. I've told my wife repeatedly to cancel our landline.
"debt relief"

NOMOROBO
I think you need call forwarding to use this. It intercepts your call before it rings on your phone and sends it to their company servers to check their spam list. If the incoming call is not on their reject list they forward the call back to your phone.
This should work on any phone (cell/home) that has call forwarding.

Something about the National Registry rules changing and you now have to update it annually... that's what I heard. Not sure if true. It was bad for a few weeks but lately it's not bad

lol i'm pretty sure the national registry is useless. every time someone claims they are getting spam calls they bitch about how they are on the list.

This. If it's important that person will leave a voicemail.

My cell phone lets me add numbers as spam so I do that. The weird thing is some times it blocks the call, but allows them to leave a 2 second voicemail or whatever. Not sure why that happens.

Ive been listening to people prank them.
Every now and then ill answer and ask about their car warranty. Most stumble and you can tell they are like wtf. About that time I start laughing and hang up.

Is anyone else getting the robocall with the woman who goes
"hello..(giggle)..oh, sorry, I was adjusting my headset..." (I always hang up before this point).
I get it every.fricking.day.

Yep. If they call at a good time, I answer and tell them my name is Ben Dover or Pete Moss and pretend to be interested.
I figure it's entertaining and it runs interference. Every second they spend talking to me is a second they can't use to scam a real victim.

Look up your Do Not Call list for your state. Mississippi has one. It doesn't completely stop spam calls but helps.

I've been back in the states since Friday and already got one about student loans.

Those damn card services calls are almost all I get at home.

If I were president, I would make a televised speech that those calls stop now, or suffer harsh consequences.
Then I would authorize Delta Force and Seal Team Six to go anywhere, anytime, and kill every one of the frickers who violate that directive.

You'd be reelected in a landslide.
