Maybe we don't have the same needs, or wants. If I have sound I want it clean. I don't need random music playing when I brush my teeth. We'd probably have NPR playing if we had full house sound, and no one needs that.
i love the schedule feature of sonos. i have different stations playing at different times and on different days of the week.
when we hosted thanksgiving last year, i started out having it play Zero 7 and other downtempo stuff then it went to classical while we were eating and after dinner moved to the Shins, Weezer, etc. it was very subtle and a very cool background effect.
nobody had to think twice about the music and we could focus on entertaining and making sure everyone was having a good time.

sorry, a single play 1 speaker. i meant it wasn't 2 stereo separated speakers.

You laugh but I hit an estate sale last week and they had 5 connects they wanted $1000 for. I didnt try to bargain because I wasn't in the market.

I'll keep my eye out. Crazy deals show up here all the time. The other day a Craigslist ad had 2 play:5s and a sub for $900.
I bet I could have offered 800 and gotten it.
Using stringify I pretty much get dibs on any Sonos deal that pops up. I have yet to miss out.
