i'll do you one better. i have ZERO cell service out in the boonies where i live so my 'unlimited tmobile data' is coming from my little WiFi -> LTE transmogrifier box they gave me for free so anyone who comes to my house (or passing by close enough for my 'microtower') also get counted against my comcrap data cap.

luckily my property is large enough that the LTE signal degrades pretty rapidly by the time it gets to the street but there's definitely some 'drive bys' that steal my comcast data.

Well that is really odd. I have had an AT&T microcell before due to poor signal that worked over my internet connection. Only registered phones could connect to the microcell and I think you could only register 8 or 10 numbers to the microcell.

Tmobile's sounds like a terrible setup.

I laughed. I know where that is actually. I grew up in Central.

Yup. Plugs into router via Ethernet and broadcasts an LTE signal that goes at least twice as far as my wifi signal even with a 3 node mesh.

Sucks wifi has to be crippled like that. The little tmo box doesn't even have an external antenna. It's just a little badass.

yeah, the LUS rep told me they don't enforce the cap on plans with one.

i specifically checked though and the highest tier clearly states no cap. i hope that stays.

if not, i may find myself moving back to cox and paying the extra $50 for unlimited again.. i personally cannot stand the idea of a cap and monitoring anything.

does anyone know if it's possible to have cox tv and lus fiber internet only.

i am making the switch to internet with lus, but may keep cox tv for a bit because they offer a cable card.. which helps my particular needs and lus does not offer a cable card.

lus did tell me they are rolling out some sort of crazy cloud dvr system in a few months, but i don't know enough about it yet.

edit* i called lus and they said i could have both. i wonder if anyone else really does this.

my daughter is starting UTC in the fall and i understand she will have a 10 gigabit connection coming into her DORM ROOM.

thinking about installing a remote torrent server in there and she can bring the hard drive back to me on weekends.

I thought cable companies had to let you use your own equipment on their networks due to FCC rules. How does LUS get away with requiring you to rent their equipment?
