Seems like many give my computer aids. I used to use them a lot in the early 2000’s

Pay back your student loans.
Anyone know the best way to steal IP?

Someone explain torrent to me? You can download but you have to also upload so much too?

The software uploads for you. Small amounts at a time usually. Basically if you don't upload what you download you will be kicked off the site.

So if I already have a library of 100+ movies and a few TV series I could just use that to upload?

No. You download something off of IPT, seed it (upload it for other downloaders), and then it'll raise your ratio.
Best thing to do to get a decent ratio off the start is to pay a little bit for a month of freeleach or find a super popular and new movie to download and seed it
Edit: Like right now, I have 4.5tb seeded/uploaded, and 200gb downloaded

quote:its not an issue at all. IPT is stupid easy to get your ratio up (upload to download) to the point you don't even have to think about it and i routinely delete everything seeded after 30 days to keep my torrent client clean.*

*"hypothetically speaking" of course, for conversation purposes only

You probably dont want to upload anything you have. The typical process is this:
1) Find the torrent you are looking for
2) download torrent file, open in torrent client
3) begin download of actual files (lets say a 5GB .mkv file)
4) When download completes, you will have downloaded 5GB of data
5) When you are done downloading, you will be "seeding" or sharing the file to others. Maintain seeding until you have uploaded at least 5GB of data or have a ratio >1. Typically, you want to seed until the file hits a ratio of at least 2
For new folks, the easiest thing to do is download "free leech" files. These are typically files larger than 8GB. "free leech" files will not count towards your download data at IPT but you get credit for all upload data with these files. So download a couple of these to start with and let them seed for a few weeks and your IPT ratio (which wont match what your torrent client indicates) will be good to go and keep IPT happy.
The only other thing to know is you have to visit the IPT site at least once every couple of weeks. If you dont, your account will be closed. Don't ignore those reminder emails.

as long as you're seeding something from that site its considered a live connection and you wont get emails.
if you shut your torrent client down and don't log into the site for a few weeks (say, you're moving

That is completely wrong.
I use RSS and am always seeding around 10-15 items. With RSS I dont have any need to visit the site and I still get the reminder email every 2 to 3 weeks. So I just have to go to the site and that is it. But it does not matter if you are seeding. They require actual visits.
I have had this issue with folks I have invited and they got booted because of it. It resulted in my invites being wasted and a knock on me.
Ignore it at your own peril.

I've been very hesitant on giving out any of my 3 invites. What happens if you invite someone and they leech too often or go inactive?

Not sure. You get 3 invites every month if I remember right. The main thing that happens is those people who dont maintain raitos and follow the rules get banned. I think you have to have chronic issues with people you invite before anything happens to you. If your account is in good standing, I think the worst case is they eliminate your invites for a while, not sure. I haven't had that many thankfully but I did get a notice saying try to make better invites.

So why wouldn't I seed my movies I already have and let that build for a while? Is there some kind of disadvantage to that? Maybe there is something I'm not getting.
