I used to be a beast with the uTorrent + Demonoid combo. Honorable mentions for Pirate Bay, Waffles.fm, and What.cd. I haven't used torrents for a long time now. Spotify and video streaming pretty much killed these platforms. I assume torrents are still good for cracked software, porn, and ebooks.

Usenet is far better for common things, which would apply to most users. And can be fully automated. But it is much harder to get into the two indexers that have all the content that is harder to find. For 99% of the popular stuff most people want though, you could get a well priced usenet setup and automate the shite out of everything.

It's the same thing. You are right, there's definitely some setup work involved and it isn't free (unless you know how to use an IOT search engine and get some passwords.). It's so much better though IMO, with all the automation. Your server has all the shows as soon as they drop without you having to lift a finger.

dang baw, hold your horses

been busy and dont check that email very often.

you should have an invite now; it may go to spam so look there as well. given the email service you're using, thats less likely than msft or google who LOVE to hide emails from IPT from you.

Are VPNs recommended for this?

Anecdotal but I'm going on 15 years with IPT and have had Comcast and now ATT fiber and have yet to receive a single nasty-gram. I seed several hundred torrents.

By comparison if someone tried to grab something from a public site like piratebay I would get a nasty-gram from Comcast in my email before it was 5% downloaded.

Ymmv, vpn is always a good idea and if I ever do get a letter I'll look into that but nothing so far.
