Looking for something with plenty of power that's not going to break the bank. Thank you.

They make an Amazon Fire Tablet for kids. Comes with a cushioned protective case and the apps are geared for children.

Seems like the best one for a child to me. My toddler has one for watching cartoons in the car. Cost $95

Amazon

My 2 year old is reading and spelling big words and singing songs about dinosaurs and excavators thanks to the kid's fire tablet. I'd recommend it to anyone with kids.

Best tablet at that age is Sandstone. It’ll teach him how to play with his Tonka trucks.

We’ve had shite luck with the fire tablets, slow and laggy. App Store isn’t arse good as google play, even if you side load it. The $299 iPad honestly is a better buy even at more money. It will last a few years!

Kids need outside time too, but let's not act like tablets are worthless and/or bad for kids (in moderation, like everything).

They can learn letters/words, numbers/math, colors and shapes. They develop fine motor skills. They can explore the world and learn about interesting places and cultures. They quickly start formulating their own questions, then just as quickly learn how to find their own answers. There are games that teach finances, physics, anything.

The idea that our kids should do the things that we did as kids probably goes back forever. Why do our kids need tablets, we did fine with Tonka trucks. When we were kids, our parents thought why do these kids need fancy metal Tonka trucks, we played with wooden trucks. And when they were kids, their parents asked why do these kids need toys made of wood, we just played with sticks and stones and made our own toys. Etc.

This is the world these kids live in. Accept it and use it to your advantage.

Rant over

Haha! I agree my kids have tablets too. I was being somewhat serious though as a slab of sandstone is fun to break apart with Tonka trucks. I don’t think they need to be deprived from technology.

Tablets are great for education. Similar to the Speak & Spell, Speak & Read, and Speak & Math we had growing up.
