Can anyone recommend where I can bring VHS tapes to have transferred to DVD in Kenner, Metairie or New Orleans area?

If this is for longevity, I would be looking to convert them to a digital format stored on drives, or however you prefer. After that you can burn to DVD if necessary. Going from one antique physical form to another is basically a lateral move at this point.

Do it yourself! I use this:
Elgato Video Capture
You can do some simple editing with it or get an editing program. Very easy. I transferred all our home videos and put them on my YouTube channel for the family.

Even if you get a perfect conversion, you will be shocked at how primitive VHS looks, even converted to DVD or to any drive.

Ditto on this. We've all become used to higher-definition digital streaming where lighting and colors have been optimized to look great or better. Old NTSC video can be tweaked a bit artificially doubling the resolution, but the results are not impressive.

I know it depends on the length of videos and the quality of the transfer but when transferring a VHS and/or camcorder recording to a DVD or computer, are the file sizes of the video files gigantic?
