In short the series 5 is a pretty decent tv especially for the price.
I'm not so sure I wouldn't put a 75" series 5 in my basement over spending the extra for a 6.

Absolutely not, the brightness is literally more than half less and it's 60Hz.
Yikes that is some of the worst brightness of all 2020 TV's. Down there with Samsung TU7000.

When do you turn on 120? That seems like something I never use on any of my tvs.
Posted on 10/24/20 at 11:26 am to CAD703X
120Hz is always on, not something you turn on. Sports are unwatchable at 60Hz. You really can't see all that blur?

Oh well I'm dumb. I thought that caused the soap opera effect on my tvs. I guess I need to look at that again. I thought you could change it manually.
Posted on 10/24/20 at 11:30 am to CAD703X
No, soap opera effect is from judder and blur reduction "features". Turn off all that shite or set it to 1 if you get a lot of stuttering/judder. It's called Auto Motion Plus on Samsung's. Should always be off.

120Hz is just replicating existing frames. It's not like you are getting any additional info.

Not always. On shittier panels they use interpolation

i think if some of the posters on here knew what you did for a living they'd have a better appreciation for your opinions on these topics.

TCL 5 series 75" QLED is 120 Hz.
$1,200 on Amazon right now.
Not worth it???

I was saying that usually it's just on shittier panels that there's interpolation.
Most of the nicer panels that claim 120hz are true 120hz

It's 60Hz and has terrible worst of the worst brightness, but up to you.

You need to look at the "native refresh rate"....not the marketing crap they use to double that number ("Super Refresh Plus" type stuff).

Or the Hisense H9G for around half the price with great performance.

I'm a avid Sony consumer, but to say the H9G offers half of the performance of an LG OLED is ridiculous. I'm very close to pulling the trigger on the Costco offer for that CX, but really wanted to wait to see what 2021 offers.
