Uverse gateway dropping DHCP for Ethernet

We've had Uverse service from AT&T since we moved into this house in 2016 (at the time that was our only option). In April they upgraded our modem to a BGW320. Over the summer we finished our basement and added a few additional data ports, so the physical configuration is ONT-->BGW320-->Netgear GS324 switch-->network ports/devices.
Over the last few weeks, any wired devices (PCs, network printers) stop connecting. This can last anywhere from 10 minutes to a couple of hours. If I go in to my main Windows 10 computer and do ipconfig release/renew I get the message "An error occurred while renewing interface Ethernet: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out."
Devices connected via WiFi, phone and TV service still work - it is just wired internet devices that are impacted.
I have thought about getting a stand alone router and bridging the gateway, but then I worry about how to reserve IP addresses for the Uverse TV set top boxes.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried plugging a device directly into the 320 and testing to see if it still can pull DHCP IP? Could be the crappy Netgear switch

Have not tried that yet. Next time it happens I will.
Suggestions for a better switch if I need to replace the Netgear?

I'm partial to Ubiquiti, but if that's not your thing then you can probably find a great deal on a used "enterprise" switch on ebay. It might sound like it's about to fly through the wall though.

I wish my Brocades were that quiet

I'm not sure they make a bad product.

They're fine. They're undoubtedly the "Apple" of the networking space with their pricing and closed ecosystem.
Very good for basic users needing more complex setups without having to know much about CLI or complex configs

Something isn't adding up here. Do you have wireless clients connected to the BGW320 that have this issue? Are the devices in the basement the problem, or anything plugged into the switch, including jacks not in the basement?
This thread is actually the top result in Duck Duck Go when I searched for "Uverse DHCP."
I would for sure add a router of your own, Uverse never replaced my gateway over the 8 years I had it, and never had any firmware updates available.
This seems to be really close to your situation.

That’s because when they have one that doesn’t work right, they abandon it after putting it into production and feel no shame for doing so.
I like their stuff though. I’m very close to implementing Talk in my office.

Wireless devices (phones, tablets, fire sticks) still work when the wired connections don't. Wired connection issues occur all over the house.
We have had some issues with the Uverse set-top boxes (wired and wireless) freezing/pixelating if the DVR is recording one thing and we are trying to watch something else on another TV, or if multiple set-top boxes are on and on different channels.
The only things that have occurred that I can think could be an issue...
1) Adding the switch to the network topography once the basement was finished
2) Upgrade to the BGW320 from BGW210 back in the spring
3) Comcast ran fiber through the neighborhood a couple of months ago and I am wondering if they damaged an AT&T amp somewhere. Issues seem to occur most often between 7-10 PM or on weekends...so when there would be a heavier load on the circuit. Just don't know how to test that.

We had trouble with our remote wifi Uverse receivers dropping the signal from the main receiver. Had the Tech connect them with the cabling already installed and the problem went away

I am gonna go with a loop in the network. It will freak out the switches but your wifi may be fine since it does not need to hit anything in the switches. Make sure you don’t have two cables connecting a switch to another switch or router.

I'll double check that.
I do have two other switches on the network. One in my home office that connects to the wall jack and then feeds my home PC, work laptop, and network printer. The other is in the media room and connects to the wall jack, and feeds an AT&T AirTie, the wired Uverse DVR, and the Uverse TV Wireless adapter.
But I am 99% sure that there is only one Ethernet cable connecting each of them to the Netgear switch in the basement, and then only one Ethernet cable connecting the Netgear to the BGW320.

I had Uverse for 6 or 7 years until I had to move and they weren't an option and the entire time I had my own router behind theirs in bridge mode.
I connected 3 boxes with zero issues.
My router handled all DHCP both wired and wireless and I had some .1-.50 reserved for some specific items.
