Using Kodi on a Firestick. Sometimes (particularly when using Sportsdevil/live sports links) the working/rotating circle thing hangs and never ends. Is there a way to get out of it pulling the power on the Firestick?

The home button won't do that?
You could also hold the home button down, select settings, go to applications, manage applications, and force stop KODI

Home button gets me out of Kodi, but when I reopen it, it goes back to the loading screen.
That sounds like my best option. Probably doesn't save me much time, but at least I don't have to take the beer off of my belly and get up off the couch. Thanks. Any other ideas are welcome.

Anyone else find it amusing that on this board, mooching someone else's login info is frowned upon but using Kodi is like the holy grail?

I don't think people care much.. But they don't consider cord cutting using your parents log in to watch ESPN etc

but using some strainger's illegally broadcast stream is considered cord cutting. gotcha.
basically...

Peter Gibbons: [Explaining the plan] Alright so when the sub routine compounds the interest is uses all these extra decimal places that just get rounded off. So we simplified the whole thing, we rounded them all down, drop the remainder into an account we opened.
Joanna: [Confused] So you're stealing?
Peter Gibbons: Ah no, you don't understand. It's very complicated. It's uh it's aggregate, so I'm talking about fractions of a penny here. And over time they add up to a lot.
Joanna: Oh okay. So you're gonna be making a lot of money, right?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah.
Joanna: Right. It's not yours?
Peter Gibbons: Well it becomes ours.
Joanna: How is that not stealing?
Peter Gibbons: [pauses] I don't think I'm explaining this very well.
Joanna: Okay.
Peter Gibbons: Um... the 7-11. You take a penny from the tray, right?
Joanna: From the cripple children?
Peter Gibbons: No that's the jar. I'm talking about the tray. You know the pennies that are for everybody?
Joanna: Oh for everybody. Okay.
Peter Gibbons: Well those are whole pennies, right? I'm just talking about fractions of a penny here. But we do it from a much bigger tray and we do it a couple a million times.

You wanna talk about theft? How many pennies do you think fricking TLC has gotten from me? Why do I have to condone that garbage just because I want totally unrelated content? I'd rather not. And why should depriving myself of things I do want be my only other option? Consumers are supposed to have the power in the market. It's unfortunate what some have to resort to in order to get that power back.
Things are changing, though, and more and more content producers are starting to wake up. People are willing to pay for what they want. The legit market just needs to offer it.

I'm with you, I use all of 2 channels I subscribe to. That's why I'm changing. But no one forced us to subscribe to cable all those years. And that doesn't make it right to Kodi or mooch.

And that doesn't make it right to Kodi or mooch.
What if magazines were only sold in bundles like cable channels, and you had to buy a bunch of magazines you don't want just to get the ones you do want? Would you pay for $40 worth of magazines just to get the two $5 magazines you want? Would you just stop reading your favorites magazines? Or would you read the ones you like at the stand and put them back?
The first option just sounds absurd, and it's crazy that we've allowed the cable industry to make us do exactly that.
The second option is kind of silly. There is content that you want at a price that you and the publisher can agree on, but the transaction can't take place. If you and others just stop consuming it, the publisher may stop producing it. Everyone loses.
The third option may not be the "right" thing to do, but in my opinion it's the best option available for the consumer, for the publisher, and for the market as a whole. The consumer isn't wasting money on unwanted content. The publisher, if they are paying attention, can recognize the real demand for their content and react accordingly. And the market will be healthier in the long run as dollars eventually go where they are intended and stop going where they shouldn't.
I think it is a necessary phase in this transition. And even if you don't pirate content yourself or if you think it's wrong, I think you should at least be thankful that some people do pirate as they are the ones forcing this change.

Look, I honestly don't care if people use Kodi. Or if people mooch. I just think they are exactly the same. I mooched before dtv worked with watchespn. And I plan on mooching again if needed. I'm just saying, people shouldn't come in on their high horse saying mooching is bad while using things like Kodi.
Posted on 3/21/16 at 10:12 am to poochie
Well, using Kodi effects change, mooching logins maintains the status quo.

I have an OTA antenna. I catch CBS. Why do I have to pay to watch their programs?
I have SlingTV. i subscribe to AMC? Why can't i watch the Walking Dead on Kodi?
Kodi is my DVR for shows that aren't on HULU. I wouldn't call what i'm doing mooching.

you have sling? You know that the previous weeks walking dead is on "demand" on Sling, right? I think that's the case for most AMC shows
Posted on 3/21/16 at 10:23 am to TeddyPadillac
Like I said, I don't care either way. But both ways are technically accessing content illegally. There's no differentiation. And to claim as such is bogus.
If you pay for HBO, you can't just walk into Walmart and take a dvd copy of game of thrones. You have to pay for it twice.

I disagree. Both take a paying customer out of the system.

quote:If you look at it from a single point of view, yeah mooching logins and pirating are similar. From another point of view, only pirating says "I don't want to pay a third party (who will funnel some of my money to yet a fourth/fifth/sixth.. party) for what should be a one-to-one transaction". Mooching encourages bundling and keeping cable companies as a middle-man, while pirating does not.

Is that a "bogus" differentiation? I don't think so.

You can reboot FireTV/stick from the remote. Press the "Select" button (big round one) and the "Play/Pause" button at the same time and hold until you see the Rebooting/ Restarting message on your screen.

Are you joking? You're still trying to convince yourself that streaming is somehow morally right. Both are stealing. Don't try to make it some sort of macro decision where you're personally changing things. You're just beating cheap (like the rest of us) and stealing content. You're just tapped into a larger pool of stealers trying to make yourself feel good. Free Barabas! Free Barabas!

Can you take it to another thread? This thread is for info on cord cutting. Not on morality of the subject.

That's not really the same, but i know what you mean.
My beef is it's more of a every other major network allows you to watch their shows online or on HULU. WHy CBS thinks you should have to pay for their shows is beyond me.
Certain networks have a vested interest in people subscribing to cable companies, and make watching some of their networks and shows online either not possible or at a ridiculous rate. They are part of the problem. They are refusing to adapt to the consumer market and trying to dictate how consumers should receive not only their content but all networks content. They are going to end up like blockbuster.
Instead of telling Hulu to frickoff and not give access to your shows online, create another Hulu with CBS, AMC, TNT, USA, Spike, FX, History, A&E, Discovery, etc shows.
