Sure, but I wouldn't count on HD quality every time. That's why locals are so important to cord cutting sports fans.
If you're really, really committed to doing this, youre going to need to run an OTA line down. Any unskilled electrician can do it.. if you know one offer him some beers and get it down in an hour

Thanks for all your help. There should be a consulting company established for this.
I'll have some time until football season to figure it out.

I was joking to a buddy that I'm going to open up a cord cutting company and basically be everyone's "user manual"
Think of it this way, man. You don't want to watch SEC on CBS in a SD feed via internet. You just dont.

If people knew that they could save $50-$200 per monthby just paying a one time consulting fee and some one time equipment fees. You could have a pretty good thing going on.
I know. My tv is heavy and already mounted up 7 feet high. Then all the wires are in the wall. I just don't want to even think about messing with it, but I know I'll have to.

I know I'm missing something simple, but I can't figure out how to add shows/movies to Favorites on Kodi for the FireTv. I hit the menu button when on a particular show/movie but the "add to favorites" option never pops up.
Any advice?

What add-on are you using? Exodus?
Posted on 4/13/16 at 2:44 pm to Jj283
You're going to need to register an account on Trakt.tv
Once you register it (Make sure it's an email and password you will remember..you'll be using this when you want to monitor and add things to your shows lists):
1. Open Exodus
2. Accounts > Trakt
They will likely tell you to visit a link, probably Trakt.tv/activate, and give you a pin. Enter that pin to integrate Trakt into your Exodus add-on.
3. Go back to the Trakt.tv Dashboard, and search for a TV show you want to add (top left of the site is the search menu).
4. You'll see a title pop up, with a purple check mark, green box, and a blue box with lines.
Select the blue lines (add to lists)
Go back to Exodus, click on My Lists, TV Show Lists (If it's a TV show you're adding) and it should be there.
If all that doesn't work..here's a youtube video I foundhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9C4BdXatyo

Easier way to do it.. I just figured it out.
I think I remember you buying a Fire TV.. after you integrate TRAKT to your Exodus..search a show on your Exodus, hover over it and hit the top right button (one with 3 lines). Select trakt manager..and add to collection. If it's a TV show, it'll appear in TV collection. If its a movie, it'll appear in collection.

Turns out I'm not a cord cutter. Wife wasn't a fan of waiting for the OTA antennae.
So I got rid of our $80 TV package + the $10 Sports package and the $13 DVR service.
We're paying Cox a total of $43/mo. for basic cable (That's including two mini boxes).. Figured the $8 more a month was worth it over having PS VUE so I can skip the OTA antenna and get her local news and my sports.
We'll just hop onto Fire TV to catch up on TV shows we're missing from DVR

That's actually not a bad deal. If it provides everything you watch and saves bitching from the wife, $8 is well worth it.
Mine has finally gotten the hand of the Vue/Amazon system. I think we'll be in it for the long haul.

well, I cheated too. Forgot ESPN isn't basic cable so I'm borrowing the in-laws account for WatchESPN

Just came here to say.....
I did it. The only thing in paying now is for Internet.
My Cox bill is going from $180/mo to $80
Not sure where to go from here, but I'm sure I'll be doing some reading in this thread.

What did you do? Just cut the cable bill?
What kind of TV watching do you do?

Finally cancelled Cox. Called and they said they'd cut my bill by $140 every month for a year (my bill is $180). They put my TV service on a 9 month hold while I consider. Would be cheaper than cancelling TV and only keeping internet service. Made her confirm twice, because it blew my mind.

Damn, that seems extremely high for internet only. Not sure what your needs for Internet is, but seems like you could prob cut down to the next tier and still be fine. Unless that $80 is a phone and internet deal.
Haven't had cox for a few years now, but no way I'd be paying $80 for Internet.

I screwed up. I signed up for DTV. They offered 1 genie and 3 wireless minis with the choice package for $63.95/month first year then $111 2nd year. $119 equipment install. Cheaper than my Eatel over 2 years but not liking the 2nd year bill. They install on Saturday. Anyone know if I can cancel, not pay fee and get my install money back?

I'd call them right now and ask.
Even if you have to eat a little cash, in the long run you win.
Either that or postpone then a few weeks, try out Vue, then make a decision.

In regards to Kodi. I know you can download the movies to your computer, but is there any way to serve them from your computer to an Amazon Fire TV? I just got the Fire TV so I'm still only messing with it a little after work. But I have an absurdly overpowered home computer with plenty of space and I figure I can download Movies and build up a nice library to view locally.
Is there an addon to do this with? I'm sure I can figure it out, but If it's an easy answer I asked here first.
