I’m taking a trip up to the black hills and currently have Verizon prepaid and an IPhone X. Surprisingly, Verizon has poor cell coverage there and ATT actually has a tower where we are staying. Could I purchase a prepaid plan with ATT and just swap to that SIM card while there? I’ve never tried it and not sure if it’s possible without calling them each time.

Did you buy your phone unlocked?

You could also set up Verizon on the esim and add a prepaid att sim as the physical sim

Edit: whoops, dude below is correct, if OP had an Xs or newer device that would be an option

iPhone X doesn't have this capability.

That said I have Verizon (work) and T-Mobile (personal - esim) in the 11 and it works fantastic.

OP - as long as the iphone is unlocked you can switch sims at will, but you will want to check your imessage and FaceTime settings after you switch because they may turn off for the new number.
