Can anyone tell me about the Roku operating system? Are there any reasons I shouldn’t buy 1? There are TCL TVs with Roku that are at a really good price and I’ve seen good reviews but I really have no idea. I’m going from an old Samsung DLP so I’m sure it’s 1000X better but with many good deals should I look for something without Roku? TIA

I’ve had an Isignia (Best Buy house brand) Roku TV in my son’s room for well over 2 years. Hasn’t given us any issues. Just turn the TV on and you’re on a Roku home screen. Pretty easy interface to use.

I haven't used one but one thing I really like that I've seen in reviews is it has an app for accessing OTA channels if the TV has a built in tuner. So instead of switching inputs on the TV to get the live locals over an antenna you just go to a different app. It's a feature I wish more TVs and streaming boxes had.

Just bought a 49 inch TCL for our home office, set it up yesterday and the picture clarity is great. We are still learning all the features.

This feature was added to Roku TV recently...

You can pause, rewind, fast forward, etc. while watching OTA by using a 16 GB memory stick. LINK

There a 50" 4K Sharp with Roku at Best Buy tonight for 180 that I'm thinking about having my wife stand in line for

Also, if you plug in a USB drive you can pause and rewind up to one hour of OTA.

I have a Sharp/Roku 32” that I got at Best Buy for about $239. About the only thing I use it for is to stream LSU baseball out on the patio. Works good for that, but it does get some lag, and difference between audio/video track, but I attribute that to the known shitty-ness of the WatchESPN app that I experience across various platforms.

When I’ve used it to watch Netflix, it worked perfectly.

The prices on them are great.

We have a couple of the TCL Roku TVs. Have had no problem with them. If you are looking for the cutting edge best picture possible, you won’t get it- these are not high end displays. But they are more ham adequate for most casual use. The Roku interface is great.
