Sorry for another tv rec thread, but here goes.

I need a new tv to mount in living room. I can go up to 55 inch. Best overall tv in that size range or best bang for the buck? Not looking for anything super complex.

I mean at 55" can't go wrong with an LG CX OLED

LG Nanocell 4k

This is $549 at 55", which I think is a good value if you are on a budget. (1/3rd of the price of the CX)

I'm interested in the downvote. OP mentioned "bang for buck" so I was looking up cheaper alternatives. Which 55'' tv at $549 blows my recommendation away? It'd be helpful for me to see that.

That’s a good rec. I was trying to keep it under $1K.

I just picked up a Hisense H9 in 55”. $699 and was pretty well rated on Rtings.com. Should be good enough for my bedroom.

Outside of their OLED lineup, LG uses IPS panels which produce a poorer picture quality

You’ll have quite a few of quality options under $1k. Sony X900 is $950 at Best Buy. TCL 6 series, Hisense H9G, Samsung Q60 and Q70 are well under $1k

Maybe not for this thread, but I bought a TCL Roku 32" TV for $99, and we just move it around to where we need it. It weighs less than 10 lbs, and there are no cables, other than the wall plugin.

My wife uses it in the basement, when doing laundry or working on projects. I will use it on the front porch sometimes. Goes anywhere there is an electric outlet.

At 100 bucks, it's almost a throwaway TV, so I don't worry about the abuse it gets.

My point is that the TCL Roku TVs are a terrific bang for the buck TV. You can get a 55" TCL 4K TV for $320 at Best Buy right now (65" for $450). Hanging it on a wall is a breeze because it weighs less than 25 lbs and is 3.3" deep. The quality of the picture is really nice, unless you require an OLED screen, but I suspect most people can't tell the difference.
