re: Ryobi gas powered outdoor tools, my experience - fredrod8545
I have the ryobi 2 stroke motor with string trimmer, edger and pole saw attachments. I've had it for about 10 years or so. I use it regularly, and I've only ran TruFuel in it. I can tell it's getting old, but it still runs. I'm looking to convert to Ego once this thing finally dies. I've been e...

re: Toughest Race: Eco-challenge Fiji - fredrod8545
I gave this a watch. All of the personal stories begin to get old, but overall it was pretty good. Two Questions I had were 1) How do you even begin to train for something like this? So many different elements combined with the length of the race, seems like it would be impossible to prepare for...

re: Turks and Caicos for my 40th - fredrod8545
The beaches are beautiful. So other than that. We took a day trip on a sail boat that included snorkeling, lunch, drinks. Definitely recommend that. Lots of great restaurants, make sure to get out of your resort and explore the island. We took cabs everywhere, never felt unsafe....

re: Selling a vehicle - fredrod8545
I sold a vehicle to Carmax. I didn't want to deal with selling privately, and I already had another vehicle, so trade in wasn't an option. They offered 3K more than the highest offer from the local dealerships/private auto traders. They'll inspect it, input all specs/details/pictures into their n...

Home Depot - Tax Exempt - fredrod8545
What do ya'll know about tax exempt status at Home Depot? What does it take to qualify? Is it a military thing? Do you need a tax exempt tax id number? My neighbor has some sort of Native American tax exemption, but I can't get any details out of him....

re: Robot Vacuum and Mop - fredrod8545
I'm not a Black Friday shopper normally, but I went for it last year. I bought a Roomba for around $300 at Bed Bath & Beyond, normal price was $800. It's incredible. If you can hold out to find one on sale like that, it's worth it....

re: Update on Alabama / Florida beaches? - fredrod8545
Just spent a week in Orange Beach. The beaches were more crowded than I've ever seen. Lots of traffic, grocery stores are packed. But yeah, we had super great trip. :nana:...

re: Buying a car from a Texas dealership - fredrod8545
Dealership will add tax depending on where you live. They'll remit everything to Louisiana, and you'll get the plate in the mail. Of course, the dealership we bought from screwed everything up, and it was a huge headache working with the state to get the registration and refund for overpaid taxes....

re: Electric Lawnmowers - fredrod8545
I found out a buddy had the Ego, and I borrowed his one day. Mowed the whole yard no problem. I was really surprised how much power it had and how well it cut. I also made it the whole way on the same charge (7.5ah battery). Ended up buying the Ego mower yesterday, and I'm planning to switch my...

re: Electric Lawnmowers - fredrod8545
That's probably my main concern. Home Depot has the batteries for $250-$-350. I'd rather not be buying new ones every couple of years....

re: Electric Lawnmowers - fredrod8545
I'm right at about 0.4 acres, so I think it'd be borderline if I keep it cut regularly. Good to know about the weedeater/blower. This rabbit hole has me looking at converting to battery for everything....

Electric Lawnmowers - fredrod8545
My gas push mower is nearing the end. I was ready to get another gasser, maybe a Honda, but I've been looking at electric options too, only cordless. Does anyone have any experience with Ego or the Lowes version from Kobalt? The idea of no gas, oil, spark plugs, etc. along with quiet operation ha...

re: price to replace 15 year old AC unit - fredrod8545
We replaced ours two years ago. 5 ton unit, I think it was around $5,500. There's all sorts of options and features they'll try to sell you which could easily push the price over $10K. ...
