To Those Of You With Android Phones...Using the Cast Feature and YouTube TV?

Is it possible to cast YouTube TV and the ESPN app's content to a TV WITHOUT being connected to WiFi? Would possibly be using a device such as Chromecast as the cast to device.
I can't do it with my iPhone without being on WiFi. I'm wanting to use my cell phone data and just cast it to the Chromecast device. I don't know if this is possible, but I do know I can't do it with my iPhone. The content doesn't cast when attempting to do so when using the air play/mirror option.

You need both devices to be on the same wifi network

IME, no..Its why I've shyed away from chromecast, etc..We bought a few thinking we could use them during the storms, etc but needed not only the WiFi, but it had to have internet

You would need another device like another phone, tablet, or laptop. Turn on phone hotspot and connect Chromecast and other device to it. Then cast from the 3rd device. I do something like this in hotels where you can't sign into wifi with the Chromecast.

Appreciate the answers everyone. I was afraid of that. I don't want to use my phone as a hotspot, because it would eat my hotspot data allotment in no time when streaming in HD.
I'll keep exploring options.

You could look into Guest Mode on the Chromecast. I've never tried it, but looks like it might do what you want.

Imagine watching the game in a bar and the dude 3 seats down from you starts casting "Dancing with the Stars" in the middle of the 4th quarter...

I'm pretty sure you can do this with a USB-C to HDMI cable.

Look into using a device that utilizes Miracast. The Microsoft wireless display adapter may be an option.
Edit: I am not in my office today but can try tomorrow. Have a tv in my office with the Microsoft wireless display adapter installed and my cell is an Android.

You can't on iPhone. It blocks the video output from the HDMI adapter to the TV. You can do it if on WiFi, but if you're using your cell phone data, you can't.

Tried it out this morning - connecting SmartView to the Microsoft Display Adapter. I can mirror my phone but when I open Youtube TV and start a show, it won't show the actual video, just the Youtube tv window.
However, I was able to use SmartView to connect directly to my Samsung TV WITHOUT either being connected to WiFi and YouTube TV worked fine.

ESPN app worked the same as YTTV. No video through microsoft display adapter but it worked directly connecting to my Samsung TV without either being connected to wireless.

Man, appreciate ya checking that out. That's a pretty big deal having both the YTTV and ESPN app able to cast correctly using the wireless source data.
The Smart View is only offered on Samsung phones, correct?

I believe so. At least that's what their version of it is called. Also, it only works using Wifi on my TVs at home that are non Samsung. May just be a Samsung-->Samsung thing that works without WiFi
