surprised that there was no thread on this

any thoughts on the new phones? I know there were a bunch of rumors, but I'm still annoyed that there's no headphone jack on either. would have been perfect

Same. I have the OG Pixel and don't plan on buying another one

Google assistant is on the iPhone too.

Underwhelmed.

Way more interested in the Slate than either of the phones. Just recently switched from a Pixel 2 XL to the international dual sim version of the Galaxy Note 9 and am happy with the choice.

Because front facing stereo speakers are that much better.

Not worth upgrading from Pixel 2 XL. The camera is beautiful as expected with even more features, but not making the jump this year.

Because some people don't care about a little screen space loss to have the speakers facing the proper direction.

I'm one of them.

Yeah, just poor design and development from Google.

It's amazing that Samsung can partner with Dolby and provide Dolby Atmos 3D surround dual stereo speakers that are the best sounding speakers in a smartphone to date and also have no bezels, while Google is braindead.

You continue to ignore the fact that speakers on the bottom get muffled/distorted by people's hands.

I hope google never changes their design. Everyone who is pushing for 100% screen ratio at a high cost to speakers are on the wrong track.

Unless you hold your phone wrong idk how it's even possible to cover the one on the bottom since it's at the top.

This is why they are the best speakers to date and that is simply not debatable. I've had the Nexus phones with front facing, they are shite compared to Samsung and Dolby's partnership with one front facing and dual stereo with Atmos.

Google just sucks, but fanboys gonna defend at all costs I suppose.

Google's hardware certainly isn't the best in the business but I'd hardly say it sucks. Their software is by far better than anything else on the market.

To say "google just sucks" makes me realize you aren't even worth debating.

Also, not really sure how else to tell you this but speakers that fire out of the bottom of the phone will get covered up by people's hands. Both while holding in portrait and landscape (depending on the hand you like to hold the phone with). I'm not sure how anyone can even try to refute that.

I'm a bit underwhelmed. I am looking to upgrade from my s6. O was leaning towards this phone because I wanted a larger battery and no bloatware. I never use the audio jack and never have problems with my speaker. I might wait on the s10

Yeah all this "Google sucks at hardware!!!" is pretty ridiculous. No, they are not achieving the levels of Samsung or Apple hardware quite yet but hey Samsung and Apple are on their 10th phone and Google on their 3rd. Also, Google is way more focused on software then hardware to showcase their services and leverage their AI.

Simple....use your phone left handed which I do frequently. It happens all the time on my S8+.

Again, unless you hold your phone wrong or left handed, that really isn't possible. This is why Apple with their 1 speaker specifically put it on the top side, because it doesn't get covered by your finger like if it were on the bottom.

The other speaker is front facing so...

The S8+ does not have what the S9+ has, but yes the bottom speaker is at the top like with the S8+ or iPhones.

Yeah, it isn't their third, they had the Nexus line before. They also use other companies to build them, they could get their shite together a lot better than this...

We going to act like Google had no input on or gained no knowledge from Nexus phones?

Edit: good job everybody. Sorry I'm late to the party.

I don't even know what this means. People hold their phones how it's comfortable to them. How can you hold a phone wrong?
