I've had Vue and Sling. Both of them are too expensive if you ask me, and both still have a shite ton of channels I simply don't give a shite about. When they all first came out, they were $20-$30, now they are $40-$50. You can go back to the cable company at that price.

I hope at some point in the future there will simply be a sports package only. ESPN, Foxsports, maybe NBCSPorts, TNT, etc. That's all i'm interested in. I don't understand why ESPN can't set up something to just have access to the WatchESPN app, and pay for just that. That can't be difficult to do, or costly.

Disney now owns both ESPN and FoxSports in addition to ABC and Fox, and 60% of Hulu. If I had to bet on who I had a "TV" subscription with in 5 years, I'd bet on Disney over Vue/Sling/AT&T/etc. I doubt it will be as a la carte as you're hoping though.

We switched back in July and haven't missed cable at all. We have 3 kids so the internet usage can be an issue. Looking at upgrading for more data. They hit us with the limit about 3-4 months after we switched, so wasn't on the radar till we already made the leap. Prior to that we never came close to the data limit

Not sure what age they're at, but do your kids watch the same thing over and over? If so you might consider setting up a media server like Plex. Download some movies or Rip some DVDs and then they can stream stuff over your local wifi without impacting your data limit.

I'm baffled still to this day that if you have something like an Xbox One S, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, etc that you can't set "All Available Free Memory" to downloading the top 5-10 most watched videos for consumption.

I still to this day have 0 clue why anyone would buy the 64gig version of the 4k Apple TV. I can't imagine a household of kids playing that many games and yet that memory is not available to be used to download movies/videos, etc.

Stick s are garbage. Especially if you had a fire tv and downgraded to a stick. Then it is really noticeable how slow they are.

Sling has a traditional 'cable' style TV guide.

So does Vue

To be fair, Vue only recently switched to a cable style guide.

They've had one for awhile on all the other platforms besides Roku. I switched from Roku to FireTV a year ago simply because the Roku app was so bad.

We switched to DirecTV in October because (if you are willing to sign your life away for two years) it was the same price, and I get more channels.

Ya, I sometimes consider going back. Then I realize I need to have their dish on my house, and their box near by tv etc.

I like the idea of less crap around my TV/house.
