I know this gets talked about daily, so please forgive me.

Its time to replace our 10 year TV in the living room. Budget is around $2,000.
We currently have a Samsung and want either the same brand or LG.

I cannot decide between Samsung or LG, much less the different series in each brand.

Samsung:
Q90 = $2,200
Q80 = $1,700
Q9FN = $1,800

LG:
B9 = $1,800
C8 = $2,500

What are yall buying in this range and why? Thanks for the help.

Have had two LG TVs just stop working. Have had several other brands, never had it happen to those. LG customer service was crap on this issue. Will never buy again.

B9 can be had for $1199 at Best Buy right now. It’s a slam dunk at that price.

I am already leaning heavily towards Samsung. Thanks.

LSURep, the prices listed are far from the lowest. Just for comparison reasons, really. Best Buy charges tax too, so add $120 to that and we are back in the range of the others.

I'm the exact opposite, had nothing but issues with Samsung TVs including a big green vertical line in the center of my parents current Samsung.

I recommend LG, especially the OLEDs

This did nothing to help solidify my decision. But thank you for your opinion

Looking at the Q90 as well 65". I should be able to get that one for less than $2k with a little negotiating and hopefully with a warranty this weekend as well. It has a great picture with some deep bark blacks.

This is my top pick. The Q80 is my second choice. I am not sure that the Q90 is worth an additional $500 though.

OLED has better color, better black better contrast and much better off angle viewing.

I'm in the same boat, looking at the exact same tvs. Really want a oled, but scared of the burn in issues.

With a 3 year old child, I should be too. I honestly dont know enough about the differences between OLED and QLED.

I have more TVs than I need to own but that gave me a lot of experience with many brands. While the picture quality on LG TVs is fine (I am watching one at this moment), WebOS is HORRIBLE. I could not dislike it any more. Many basic apps like ESPN are not supported, a few others crash routinely, and navigation is far more difficult than it has to be. The command hierarchy is bewildering. While I have some small issues with Samsung’s OS, too, I would buy Samsung every time over LG. Your mileage may vary...

I actually like Vizios OS best out of the Samsung, LG, and Vizio that we currently own. However, Vizio no longer supports Hulu, so wife nixed it.

LG 65 inch OLED at Best Buy for $2,099! I've seen OLED side-by-side with Samsung QLED, and I'd choose the OLED every time!

2,049 at Costco now, down from about 2,200 a few weeks ago

ETA: I am getting this TV soon. Picture is great, plus lots of good reviews online, particularly at cnet.com

I went and looked at B9 and q80r just a minute ago. Both are beautiful, but the LG is a little nicer.

How much nicer? Worth the risk of burn in? I’m still reading on everything, but between a 3 year old and a wife that won’t pay attention, not wort it for me.

Not much at all. I bought the q80r. I couldn't take the chance of burn in. Hope this helps some.
