Following reports of exploding batteries in its latest smartphone, Samsung is expected to announce an "unprecedented" recall of the Galaxy 7 Note less than a month after it first debuted.

According to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, an unnamed Samsung official says the company is conducting an investigation and is expected to announce the results this weekend or early next week. Samsung has indeed traced the explosions to the battery of the device and is in talks with Verizon and other U.S. business partners to figure out how to deal with the issue.

Samsung's solution may be to recall all Galaxy Note 7 devices that have been sold thus far, as the company has no plans to hide the result of its investigation.

I can't help but giggle a little bit. All I've heard lately is note 7 this and note 7 that. Hey look at me I have a note 7 and I'm better than you. Serves them all right.

That would be a pretty bad day if that happened in your pocket or next to your ear.

Honestly, I like my wife's S7 so much that I was strongly considering the Note 7, but ultimately decided I'd probably never get my money's worth out of it. But this recall shouldn't turn anyone off of the phone if they like everything else about it (if they're willing to wait for sales to resume). Just as important as the defect itself is how well/quickly the manufacturer responds to it.

This might've been a much cheaper ordeal for Samsung if the phone had a removable battery.

The phone I replaced my note 4 with was the note 7.no lie, the whole lack of a removable battery turned me off from the note 5.

Maybe the note 8 will dance with the one that brung you.
