S24 Ultra or Pixel 8 Pro?

Looking for the boards thoughts on these two.
Upgrading from OnePlus 8 pro.
I'm a decently heavy user between spotify, chrome, YouTube, and Instagram.
Battery life is important to me and I've heard mixed reviews on the pixels for years and Samsung always is right at the top of battery life, but has anyone seen improvement on the pixel 8 pro?
With young kids, the camera has become very important as well. It seems like both phones have their fair share of AI with the cameras.
The blur and best take features of the pixel almost sell me on the phone alone, but still have concerns on battery life and day to day charging.
Any word if samsung will have any updates to implement something like best take?

My pixel 8 pro might have worse battery life than my 2 year old Pixel 6 it just replaced. At least it doesn't feel any better.

I just pre-order the S24 Ultra. Kinda sad actually. My S20 Note Ultra has need by far, the best phone I've ever had.

I saw this morning that they have some good deals going for the pre-order S24 Ultra.
What are the improvements in the S24 over the S20 Note? Better camera? Does the S24 Ultra have removeable storage?
Thanks!

Maybe, it's just the old man in my head talking, but this obsession with improving camera tech is getting a bit carried away.
Pick either phone. The camera on those phones is miles better than anything anyone practically needs. Our old photo albums were filled with polaroids for crying out loud.
It never ceases to amaze me how awesome these smartphones are. I mean, I guess it's great that we can stare at digital pictures and pick nits over which camera is 1% better, but any modern smartphone is producing simply amazing pictures.
FWIW: The Pixels seem to have the best software features for pictures.

Pixel quality control is terrible. There's articles about charging ports failing one month in.

From what I can gather, theyve improved upon pretty much everything from the S20. It doesn't have expandable memory though, which blows, but I was able to get 512mb for like 8 bucks a month, which I more than I'll ever use.

Gotcha.
It looks like they have a 1TB model as well. Interesting.

My Wife's Pixel 8 Pro wireless charging never worked out of the box. Had to get a replacement 2 days into ownership. Google was pretty good about sending out a replacement.

That sucks, but I'm glad you were able to get a replacement promptly. Quality Control, has always been my main complaint with Android phones, but I would have thought the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro would have solved most of the problems.

hate hearing about the issues with the 8, and my 6 has been fantastic other than a few Bluetooth issues that I am not totally sure are the phone's fault. I guess I will wait for 9.

My 6Pro sucks with dropping signal.
I really dont want the samsung, but I need a phone that doesnt drop the signal whenever it feels like it.

Sounds like the s24 Ultra is the move

Not to hijack the discussion but does anyone know which is the better way to go? I am the lone holdout in the family...everyone has iphone (I already have an iPad as well).

Pixel battery life not any better and won't be until it gets away from exnios based chip in 25

I've never had that happen with mine. All my issues involve Bluetooth with either my truck or my watch-never a speaker. May have fixed the watch issue. Restart seems to fix the Uconnect issue.

Outside of having a telephoto lens now and the temperature sensor which I've actually used a couple of times the P8P feels just like my P6. That's probably more of a testament to how much I liked my P6 than any shortcoming of the P8P. If you love your P6 size and shape and need to refresh your aging phone I do really like my P8P. It's kind of like when I upgrade my iphone, the new iphone feels just like my old iphone. The technology is mature enough that there is no longer a feeling of otherworldly next generational leapfrog of improvements when upgrading.

I think the main difference is the AI

The pixel version of android is way better than samsung but samsung gives you better battery life.
Now that both are going to do 7 years of updates, I'd probably go with samsung just for battery life.
I like my Pixel 4a and 7a but the battery life is just so underwhelming. I do not use my phone at all and idle drain is just more than I like.
