Going pick up one of these for a Christmas gift.

Was set on getting one of iRobot Rhoomba ones, but now I'm seeing these newer Samsung ones.

Anyone have any experience with these or have any suggestions?

TIA!

I have a Neato. It's been pretty awesome, but I've never owned anything else to compare it to. Definitely worth having.

love the roomba. i have a big dog who sheds a lot and the roomba is a lifesaver. i don't have experience with the other brands. a lot of people on here like the neato vacs, but i have read that they are not very durable. my roomba is going on 2 years with no problems, and it runs about every day.

Awesome. It's for my parents and mostly for their dog shedding.

I was looking at the reviews for the Rhoomba 650 and 770 and it seems like both get the job done with pet hair.

I'm getting a Neato for Christmas. The constant bumping into things Roomba does seems like a waste of battery and would annoy the frick out of me. From the head to head comparisons, the Neato sucks up more stuff also

I plan on buying one in the next 6 months. I really like the Samsung one but that's just based on looking at them online on each of their companies websites.

I have a Neato and love it. Do a search on here and the OT. Many of us TD'ers have them.

I picked up the Rhoomba on prime day. Got a great deal. We almost never use it though.

This is the main reason we don't use it. Its loud and obnoxious, and surprisingly harsh on the furniture. Kind of frustrated about the purchase to be honest. Sonar technology would be far superior to the bumper car method.

I got a neato d80 on amazon for $425 delivered the other day. It came in today and is charging right now, i will report back on it's performance tomorrow, but I had the older model neato xv-21 and it did a good job of keeping the floors clean, but died after about 18 months.

Get the 3-year extended warranty on any robot vacuum, I got a full refund on the xv-21 after 18 months of use.

Thanks for the input

I went ahead and picked up the Rhoomba 650. Used one of those obnoxious Bed Bath and Beyond coupons and saved $80.

I'm sure they'll get over the banging around as long as it gets the job done.

Man I saw your post and almost jumped on it for a x-mas present for the wife, but researched for a day and the price went back up. Now the Neato signature is cheaper, but every review I read says exactly what your does...dies from 18-24 months.

Do you have raised transition pieces from your living room to kitchen, hallway to bedroom, etc...? Does it have any issues there?

I have a neato and I definitely like that it does it's patterns in lines instead of a random algorithm like the Roomba.

I did see recently that Bissell came out with one priced much lower. (granted probably not near the quality as the others, but there is competition coming)

Dyson has been in the works of one for a while.

I have several of these throughout my house and it does just fine with them. Rarely it will have an issue getting on the rug in my living room. Its thick so sometimes it will have to go in at an angle instead of straight on. But once on, it goes to the spot where it tried to get on and picks back up from that point.

I'll second this. We have a small pack of dogs. This thing does an excellent job.
