Recs on a Roomba

Looking to get one of these for the wife ( no pics) for Christmas. Do any of y'all have a rec of which model to get? Budget is around $500. Also, doesn't have to be a Roomba brand, just a good robot vacuum.
We have wood floors with rugs. I just want to get something so she doesn't have to vacuum everyday.

As prior dissatisfied Roomba people we love our RoboRock S6.
But I'm sure iRobot has gotten a lot better in that time too

We bought the Roborock S5 max and it's been awesome. If i were to buy again I'd probably get the version without the mopping function as we have never used it probably never will..

I have a shark that you don’t have to empty for a month and it works pretty great. Once it maps the house you can designate which rooms you want it to do spot cleans in, rarely ever gets stuck, goes back to the station to empty and charge while cleaning, etc.

I had a basic Roomba a while back and it was ok but scuffed the hell out of the base boards since it didn't have mapping. I've learned that this is a must.
I got the Wyze earlier this year and love it for the price (it was $250 when I got it). It maps out the room, you can set no-go zone's if you don't want it going under beds or over rugs, and can set suction power if you are home and want it a little more quiet.
It handles my family of 5 plus dog easily.
If y'all want something "fun" to do, try vacuuming your carpet with a normal vacuum then run your robot immediately after to see how much it picks up. I did this on Saturday and the bin in robot was almost completely full. That is with a Dyson regular vacuum.

Have the same vac and I agree with some of those things.
I did a good job mapping, but it took it forever to map our main floor (just under 2,400 sq ft.) And having a kid with a normal kids room, we'd notice the vac being off the dock and go looking for it. Often we'd find it under one of the twin beds in his room or in the master closet after ingesting a sock that didn't make the clothes basket.

I does a decent job on cleaning but struggled with fine pet fur on carpet. It handled hard surfaces much better. It was outstanding a sucking up small lego's the kid would leave around...
The phone app is decent. Not great, not awful. But it's integration with alexa is poor. I think it's mostly amazon/alexa's fault, because you'll tell the vac to go clean somewhere and frequently it won't recognize the vac or the room you'd like to clean. It has a daily cleaning schedule routine in the app that was pretty useful. However, it only runs 1 hour and you can't program specific rooms on specific days (which would be nice).
But I would buy another one without much hesitation.

I've had the Wyze robot vac for a few months now. Pretty affordable and does a nice job.

Exact same thing for me - love my Roborock S5 Max, not sure I will ever actually use it to mop even though it can.
