Use plex on fire stick with another guys login and wondering if I can put a movie from my computer on his server?

I use his account to watch movies but he doesn't have the one I want.

You'll have to go through a process to do it. Ask your friend to throw those movies on the server for you

you can always add your own server from any pc then share it to your account

you can do this.. create your own plex login with your own email etc.. then ask him to add you as a free under his server settings and share all libraries to you..

then you can use that same login and make your own home server and go back and forth between the two servers.

you will just need to download and install the plex media server onto any pc with internet access.. then run it and add a movies folder and select the folder you wish to put the movies under..

hope that helps some.. if not i can try to help more later. i pretty much live on plex. if you like i can even share my server to your newly made account. just hit me up with your email. i have over 7k movies.

i dont get the plex sharing. what am i missing?

my plex is MINE ALL MINE! MY LITTLE KINDGOM at CAD.CADSHOUSE.COM

the whole point is my system takes me off the cloud and lets me run everything locally and the world can frick off.

who shares their plex shite with the outside world? this just asking for trouble.

this is a dumb question but I just set up plex today and uploaded about 100 movies that I had converted to digital. I watched them through the app on firetv. I got to work and checked my phone app to see if it would play and it wouldn't. is it because my laptop is turned off? do i need to buy some type of server?

Yes. Your laptop is now the server for the files

I assume this isn’t one of the free features, but Plex offers a cloud version where you don’t need your own server. LINK

You may also have to turn on port forwarding on your router.
