So if you have say a synolgy NAS do you run plex on that (not sure if they do that) or you still need a computer interface?
You need a computer interface to deal with the synology OS.
I have the ds218+ and the processor on it has worked fine for me.
Why do I need a paid Plex subscription, though? The free service works fine.

I've held off on plex pass deals in the past, mostly because I don't think my usb tuner is compatible. Does plex pass provide epg or do you have to provide that yourself?

Biggest thing I bought it for was adding users. I can secure different libraries and have public logons for my network ie: I have "Secured [movies,tv,etc]" that you can only view under the "Parents" user. Good for families. I got the lifetime membership for $100 a year or 2 ago.
