Stop telling me what to do when you don't know what you are talking about. I'm just sharing facts. I'm in no way promoting big cable companies. Frankly I think they are legit monopolies. We definitely don't have enough TV and internet options in our area; no fiber and Cox is the only game in town for cable. But streaming is not a practical alternative from our perspective. We either download or rip content and play it off an entertainment server as opposed to streaming. Streaming has too many dependent variables/potential points of failure to be reliable. And if you think ISP prices are going up now, just wait until 200 million people are trying to stream 4k content all over the U.S.
That's a lot of bullshite, except the fact we don't have enough ISP competition
Your facts are bogus
Especially for the fact internet and cable tv share the same infrastructure for a majority of the country
You also argued for data caps in another thread. So you really have no idea what you are talking about. Them providing more bandwidth for more 4k streaming cost them nothing.

How much does that go up after 24 months?
Not sure, but just like the other guy said, I don't really care, I'll weigh my options 24 months from now.
But I do know that 23 months from now I'll still be paying the same locked in, low rate. Do you know what you will be paying 23 months from now?

Streaming content is highly compressed.
So is cable TV content.
I can tell you that on PS Vue, the channels look better than my Cox cable did.

I can dump Vue right now if I want for the fact there are no contracts
I also use an IPTV service that's cost less that $100 a year. With over 300 channels including movie channels and ppv. It works with smart tvs, fire tv, Apple TV, kodi, PS4,Xbox One etc...

I have no need to dump anything, so the contract doesn't scare me. I welcome a tv or internet contract as a method to save money.
Like I said, different strokes for different folks.

I don't know anything about this iptv that you keep bringing up, but a quick google search has yielded that it's illegal, so good job bringing that into the conversation. That's like bragging that you save money on groceries because you're able to shoplift some of your items.
I think I've got it figured out. You're a single guy, that lives in the middle of nowhere, and has one tv and a computer. You pay $60-70/month for internet, $40 for vue, and everything else is pirated. You think that you're saying "frick you" to the big time cable companies, but what you don't realize is psvue is still a cable company, only they deliver their content different than the legacy carriers. Btw psvue is owned by a huge media conglomerate.

I'll be sticking with Vue. The quality is comparable to my previous cable company and I've had no problems with buffering or any other issues since April 2016. It's also cheaper than other cable or satellite options for me. I'll continue to save $50 a month, even with the price increase.

Doesn't change the fact that a. he keeps bringing up an illegal service in this discussion and b. the psvue model isn't much different than traditional cable.

Directv is way cheaper than streaming for me. I need tv at multiple locations. I get 205+ channels in glorious HD for $30 a month per location.
How do stream TV in a RV or at a tailgate?

You are under the false assumption you get a superior service at the same price as cord cutters.
When in fact on average you pay more than cord cutters for the same level of service.

The fact you had to google IPTV services shows you don't know anything about streaming. Don't be upset you are not technically inclined enough to figure out how to set up such services that provide you tv from all over the world in HD.

Actually married with a family. But unfortunately Uncle Sam has me living in the middle of no where. We have two 4k smart tvs, PS4, Xbox one, fire tv and fire tv, two laptops, two tablets and a pc. I'm also an IT professional.
I pay for Vue bc it's convenient for my wife. We have a scam of an isp so for us to have a higher data cap we have to pay for speed we don't need. So it's $100 a month. I get all NFL games legally and cheaper than Sunday ticket, so I don't have to be sucked in to DTV.

Explain please

So you pay no taxes of any sort with Direct tv satellite service? its like 10 dollars extra a month out here and i take it you only have one receiver correct?because more than usually cost 7 bucks extra a month. Maybe i'm doing it wrong

Yea that doesn't make any sense
Having 200+ HD channels is top of the line package for any provider. All movie channels and sports.

I have Directv Xtra package. 205+ channels with no movie channels.
I have one Directv account with 5 DVRs for my principle residence running about $120 a month. The DVRs will work anywhere in the US if you have a dish. Local channels will only work in the general area (about a 90 mile radius for my location) of the principle residence location. I use an antenna for locals for the DVR out of my area. The DVRs at my principle residence are connected to my internet. The ones away from my principle residence are not.
In theory you and 4 people could each have a DVR at their house and split the $120 per month cost 5 ways and have DTV for $24 a month each. I don't split or share the cost with anyone and all DVRs are located on family owned property. At any one time I may or may not have DTV in up to 4 locations.

Gotcha I'm pretty sure one of my friends did that in college leaching off his parents
Still $120 is steep for tv alone. But if you need DTV for a tailgate set up that's on you.
With streaming services you don't need boxes they give you at extra cost.

Most cable boxes are rented and only work that provider
This is true and sucks. I busted their balls about this very thing. I am no longer under contract, but have a box that went bad. They won't replace it unless I sign another 2 year contract or purchase a box out right. If it is still their equipment and it fails, they should replace it if I am paying a monthly rental fee. We are currently debating this issue right now. I'll get my box with no contract.
EDIT- Talked to the right US loyalty department and they are overnighting me a new HD box. No contract renewal issue with a direct replacement. Just equipment upgrade. They need to educate the foreigners. They have no clue what the frick they're doing. Not only DirecTV, but all overseas call centers. I think Google's is the worst.

Ok what setup would you suggest to reduce that $120? Three of the locations are houses.

Three houses- first world problems
But honestly a fire tv or Apple TV in each house using Vue or DTV now. One account can serve all those devices, assuming the houses have internet. One time purchase for the equipment that can be used as media hubs with a plethora of apps. No more trashy dish in the yard or on the house and tv going out bc of a storm. I guess keep DTV for your tailgate but you could easily have a satellite isp hooked up to a fire tv.
But if you have three houses and probably an rv for tailgating, money isn't an issue
